Objective: To differentiate between rotation and revolution and describe the effects of the earth's

motion.

Code: S6ES-IVd-e4-5

Grade Level: Grade 6

Subject: Science

(1) Review: Ask the students if they know what rotation and revolution mean. Discuss their answers.

(2) Motivation: Show a video of the earth's rotation and revolution. Ask the students to observe and take
note of the differences.

(3) Activity:

- Activity 1: Divide the students into groups and give and give them a globe or a ball. Ask them to rotate
it and observe what happens. Then, ask them to revolutionize it around a light source and observe what
happens. Afterward, have them discuss their observations and write it down in a paper.

- Activity 2: Show a picture of the earth's seasons and ask the students to explain why it happens. Have
them discuss in pairs and present their answers to the class.

- Activity 3: Divide the students into groups and give them a flashlight, a ball, and a marker. Ask them to
mark the ball to represent the continents. Then, ask them to shine the flashlight on the ball and observe
what happens. Have them discuss and write down their observations.

(4) Analysis: Ask the students to compare and contrast the differences between rotation and revolution.
Then, ask them to explain the effects of the earth's motion.

(5) Abstraction: Summarize the key points of the lesson and have the students take note of it.
(6) Application: Give the students a real-life problem related to the objective. For example, ask them to
explain why we have day and night.

(7) Assessment:

1. What is the difference between rotation and revolution?

Answer: Rotation is the spinning of an object around its axis, while revolution is the movement of an
object around another object.

2. What causes the earth's seasons?

Answer: The tilt of the earth's axis causes the earth's seasons.

3. Why do we have day and night?

Answer: We have day and night because of the earth's rotation.

4. What is the effect of the earth's rotation?

Answer: The effect of the earth's rotation is day and night.

5. What is the effect of the earth's revolution?

Answer: The effect of the earth's revolution is the change of seasons.

(8) Assignment: Ask the students to draw and label a diagram of the earth's rotation and revolution.

Interactive Activities:

1. Kahoot quiz on rotation and revolution.

2. Interactive simulation of the earth's rotation and revolution.

3. Virtual tour of different parts of the world experiencing different seasons.

Note: The activities and assessment can be modified depending on the resources and materials
