WORKSHEET – GRADE 08
DEADLINES : Next class date (Try to finish it within 3 days and WA it )
1. Sinnamali has a water bottle that is a rectangular prism. The bottle measures 9cm by 6cm by 15 cm and
she filled it completely with water. Then, she drank 0.25 of the volume of water in her water bottle. How
many cubic centimeters of water were left in the water bottle?
2. The volume of a cube is 100 cubic inches. If each of the edges is doubled in length, what will be
the volume of the cube?
3. The volume of a cube is x cubic feet and its surface area is x square feet, where x represents the
same number. Find the length of each edge of the cube
9. A cuboid of height 11cm has a volume of 539 cubic centimeters. Find the length of each side
of the square base.
11cm
10. The solid below is made up of cubes, each of which has an edge length of 4 centimeters.
iii) If Sirisena wants to fill water to this solid, how many milliliters he need
11. A fish tank is 50 centimeters long, 30 centimeters wide, and 40 centimeters high. It contains water up to a
height of 28 centimeters. How many more cubic centimeters of water are needed to fill the tank to a
height of 35 centimeters?
12. Recollect the activity that you have done regarding solids and answer the following questions.
i.) What is the name of the solid which has the pentagon shaped face that you have made?
ii.) Write down the Euler's relation regarding the number of edges, vertices and faces of a solid.
iii.) Show that the Euler's relation is true for a regular octahedron.
iv.) Draw the shape of a face of a regular octahedron and write the name of the shape.
v.) Name another two platonic solids which has the same shape of faces that you have drawn in (iv.)
vi.) Write down the name of a solid which does not satisfy the Euler's relation.
