How important is FCR?
✔FCR (Feed conversion ratio) shows how much
feeds is needed to produce 1 kg of shrimp.
✔Can act as a reference if the current
operation is leading to a high or low profit.
✔Shows the effectiveness of the feeds used
✔Can also be a basis in feeding decisions
(change in feed rates, quantity, etc.).

• Feed cost determines how much does it need to grow a kilogram of shrimp
• Feed price x FCR
• For a $1.20 /kg feed price:
• At 1.00 FCR, feed cost will be at $1.20 /kg,
1.20 FCR, feed cost at $1.44 /kg,
1.50 FCR, feed cost at $1.80 /kg of feeds
• For every 0.10 increase in your FCR, you are losing $0.12 per kilogram of feeds
