ACTIVITY 1.1

1 LOGISTIC - This refer to the activity of transferring goods or people from one point to another
destination.

2 TOURISM - It refers to the activities of people traveling to and staying in places outside their usual
environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure,business and another purposes.

3 It provides passengers with a smooth transfer from and to major modes of transportation such as
airline, buses and ferries.

4 BUS - It serves as the vehicle that carries people to its destinations.

5 This component of transportation has contributed a lot to the growth of domestic and international
tourism because it decreases the travel time to the tourist

Significance of transportation to the tourism industry

- Transportation through its role of movement of goods and people, decisively influences the other
branches of the world economy, including international tourism. Without transportation there won't be
the travel and tourism industry, people won't have means to reach another places that desire to see.

III Discuss the function of surface transport and air transport

Surface transport

For the transportation of goods and, to a lesser extent, for the transportation of people, it is the main
mode of rural road transportation in India. It connects the settlements to the nearby railroad stations
and markets. It transports consumer products to the villages and crops for sale to the market.

Air transport
Air transport facilitates integration into the global economy and provides vital connectivity on a
national, regional, and international scale. It helps generate trade, promote tourism, and create
employment opportunities
