F. Learning Objective:
 Understanding about food and describing food.
 Recognize their like and dislike about food.
 Practice to talk about food menu at restaurant.

1. Preliminary interaction a. Before starting the lesson, 5 minutes
teacher should prepare or get
some food flash cards.
b. Start the lesson by placing the
below or your own flashcards
on the board.
c. Then asked students to
observe the cards and
respond.
d. And interact with your
students by ask students to try
to guess what the food is.

2. Warm-up activities a. A small warm-up activity to 10


make your students active minutes
and start an interesting
lesson.
b. Next, ask students about what
other food they know in
English and write those
words on the board.
c. Once you have a few
examples on the board,
survey the whole class as to
whether or not they like those
foods.
d. Teacher can simply ask
students to show a thumbs up
or thumbs down to indicate if
they like or dislike the food.
3. Main activities 1. Talking about like and dislike 35
a. Using food flashcards, minutes
practice the keywords by
showing the flashcards and
asking students to repeat after
the teacher.
b. Then, ask students to try to
say the words on their own.
Once students have practiced
enough, drill some more with
the key expressions.
c. The key sentences we will
use in this lesson plan are:
 ‘Do you like
(burger)?’ – ‘Yes, I
do. / No, I don’t.’
 I like/don’t like
(burger).
 What’s your favourite
food? – My favourite
food is (pizza).
 What do you want to
eat? – I want (pizza),
please.
 Do you want some
more (pizza)? – Yes,
please. / No, thanks.
2. Next task is learning about
classwork on menus and
restaurant.
a. The students will be
asking to look at the
picture of menu at
restaurant and they should
match the words to the
pictures.
b. These activities will make
students understand what
kind of food that usually
on the restaurant and how
to order from the menus.
c. Next is role-play
activities, this can be used
to help students practice
language for ordering
food and drink.
d. To begin, pairs of
students to make a
restaurant dialogue
between a customer and a
waiter.
e. Then act out the dialogue
twice with each student
taking on the role of the
customer and the waiter.
f. After that, exchanging
roles each time they
finish the conversation.
g. Finally, students present
their role-plays to the
class.
4. Closing activities a. Before finishing the class, 10
review the food vocabulary minutes
and expressions that they
have learned. A great way to
do this is with a fun drawing
game.
b. Draw a food that you like on
the board and ask students to
guess what it is.
c. To guess, students can ask
the teacher, ‘Do you like
(satay)?’. When a student
guesses correctly, invite that
student to come to the front
to draw food that he/she
likes.

5. Lesson summary Students could put their food language to practical


use and will be ready for the next time they decide
to eat out.

Waiter: Good morning. Welcome to Nice Restaurant.
Customer: Good morning. Could I have a table for one please?
Waiter: Certainly. Please come this way. We have a table just over here with a
nice view.
Customer: Okay, that’s good.
Waiter: What would you like to drink?
