CHAPTER 1_LESSON 1.2

TAKE THIS HOME….

“ AS A FUTURE EDUCATOR, WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO LEARN THE DIFFERENT
ROLES OF THE TEACHER AS A CURRICULARIST”?

As a future educator, it is important for me to learn about the different roles of the teacher as a
curricularist because it allows me to understand how to create and enhance the curriculum in order to
best serve my students. Educators who understand curriculum design, implementation and assessment
may construct more interesting, effective, and relevant classes. They can also differentiate education to
fit the varying requirements of their students.
A teacher for example may assume the position of curriculum planner by examining the learning
objectives they want their pupils to attain the resources available to them and the requirements of their
specific students. They may then create a lesson plan that involves a range of teaching styles and
evaluations. Alternatively, a teacher can act as a curriculum evaluator, analyzing student data to evaluate
whether the program is accomplishing instructional objectives. This enables them to make educated
judgements about what modifications are required to improve student learning outcomes.
So educators can better serve their pupils by recognizing these various teaching responsibilities.
