Dalagang Bukid is a 1937 oil on canvas impressionist artwork by a famous Filipino painter named
Fernando Amorsolo. It illustrates a young woman holding with a banga, a round or spherical jar
that is made out of clay. It portrays an image of a perfect young brown-skinned Filipina maiden
portrays the Maria Clara figure with a beautiful expression, as though she likes the Philippine
agricultural life.

Criticism of the artwork:

Subject: the young maiden

- The woman is staring at something which is the reason of her expression

- She seems enjoying the atmosphere in her time at the rice field
- Her shoulder emphasized the way a females dressed, attempting to portray a traditional
Filipino attitude that every Filipina was expected to have during the American colonial
period.

The subject portrays that the woman has a provincial atmospheric since she is holding a
banga. The clothing represents the national costume which is baro at saya and a bandana on
her head.
