Wizz Air Assessment 2019 (NTR)

STAGE 1
DAY 1

We started at 8:00 with 11 applicants. We got a thorough presentation about the company,
future plans, salary, etc. 15 minutes break, then we started the computer test (technical test).

Technical test (60 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes), questions like these:
- 3 workers do the painting in 12 days, how long does it take for 5 workers?
- Fleet with 20 A320, 10 A330 and 5 A350. A320 series fitted with IAE engines, widebody fitted
with RR engines. What percentage of the fleet is fitted with IAE?
- Sum of prime numbers between 4 and 16?
- Sum of prime numbers between 10 and 20?
- What does RVR mean?
- It takes 15 hrs for 6 workers to replace all the pax seats on an A320. How long would it take
if it was done by 5 workers?
- An aircraft flies 23 hrs per day on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 19 hrs per day on
Wednesday and Friday and 22 hrs total on Saturday and Sunday. The line maintenance time
is 1 hrs per day all week long, the rest of the time is standby. How many hours does the aircraft
spend on the ground (except turnaround times)?
- Dry operating mass contains the following...
- Basic empty mass contains the following...
- If y(x+1)=z, then x=?
- What is the effect of the CG on fuel consumption?
- During the retraction of the flaps at a constant AoA, the aeroplane starts to… (sink suddenly)
- The wing ice protection system currently used on most large jet transport aeroplanes is… (a
hot air system)
- A large supercooled cloud droplet that collides with an airfoil will most likely… (create clear
ice)
- Maximum PAX number of Wizz Air A321ceo?

During the technical test they checked all of the documents. Carefully check that you have all
of the originals, 2 applicants were sent home because their documentation was deficient. So
we were separated into 2 groups (group of 4 and 5), and we were asked to complete the group
exercise in a small briefing room.

Group exercise:
We got a Zebra Puzzle (https://www.brainzilla.com/logic/zebra/), but with airplanes (different
nationality, color, destination, departure time, cargo, etc.). We got 15 minutes to solve it,
there were no secret tasks. You don't have to come to a solution by the end, they score
everyone individually.

After the group exercise, 15 minutes break, then they told us that everyone passed this stage
and we got the time schedule for the individual interviews. If you have the interview in the
afternoon, you will have enough time for a lunch.

STAGE 2

The committee: 1 Captain, 2 F/Os, 1 HR Lady. We started with the HR, but everybody asked
questions in this topic. During the technical interview only one of the F/Os asked questions.
HR interview:
- How are you feeling today? How was the assessment so far?
- How did you do in the group exercise?
- Why didn't you come to a solution?
- What would you do, if you make a mistake in a group task?
- What type of people is it hard to work with?
- What would you do if your captain doesn't follow the rules?
- Tell me about your experience so far.
- Did you have any conflict in the cockpit so far?
- Why Wizz Air?
- What are the areas you should develop?
- What if you will not be persistent enough to go through the type rating?

Technical interview:
- What is density altitude?
- How does it change with temperature?
- What will be affected when you fly from an airport with high density altitude?
- What if you are flying to an air mass with low temperature?
- How can you maintain obstacle clearance in these conditions?
- He showed a figure with a schematic runway. What are these distances? (TORA, TODA, ASDA,
LDA)
- What height and speed do you have to reach by the end of TODA? Is this height always the
same?
- What ME aircraft do you fly? How will you realize an engine failure?
- What are the actions in case of an engine failure after V1?

Other technical topics on that day: electrical system of current types, flat rated engine, decision
making scenarios (what would you do, if your engine is on fire and weather is below minima,
etc.), describe the engine of current type (HP, number of cylinders, volume of cylinders, what
does the number indicate - e.g. LO-360), OPS questions (minima, planning minima, flight
planning, fuel planning).

The two interviews were merged, it was around 25 minutes for the HR and 10 minutes for
Technical. 8 of us got the email at around 19:00, that stage 2 was successful and that
tomorrow afternoon we'll have the simulator briefing and the sim session.

STAGE 3

DAY 2

SIM:
We got a chart and 5 minutes for briefing (EHAM ILS 27). Originally the task was take-off,
general aircraft handling and flying the procedure, ILS and landing. After entering the Sim, due
to lack of time, there was a change and we started in the air at 3000 ft, turning to headings,
then turning with 45° bank angle. Climb, descend with given rate. Climb/descend with 45°
bank and given rate. We had to set the MCDU (VOR, CRS, ILS, MDA) from the chart and then
intercept the selected radial. When flying out on a radial, they asked, what would be the entry
for a holding with inbound/outbound radial 070, if we were flying directly to the station. After
that vectors to final, ATC asked to maintain high speed until 6 NM, then manage speed,
configuration. Wind 260/10, weather CAT I. Really small inputs on the sidestick!
We got the results 2 weeks after the simulator session. Good luck!
