Our discussion today is based on Table 4.2 (slide 16), Table 4.10(slide 42) and Table 4.11
(slide 43). Read that information in the slides to proceed with exercise.

Which E-commerce Website has better features (Online hotel booking website-A
comparison).

1. Go to www.agoda.com.my and try to search available hotel rooms on a particular

date.
2. Identify system functionality available on the website based on Table 4.2.  List your
findings in the comment below.

2.1. Digital Catalog – Agoda website have a digital catalog

2.2. Product Database – Agoda have and information and database about hotel
availablities.

2.3. Customer on site tracking – Agoda track every travellers (customer) that searching
for hotel. There are a number of travellers searching for the hotel using maps that is
provided at the left hand side of the website.

2.4. On site blog – There are onsite blog available.

2.5 Shopping Cart @ payment system – Agoda provide this services.

2.6. Customer Database – Agoda based on history of frequently customer searching the
hotel and their interest.

2.7. Sales Database – Agoda also have this kind of information.

2.8. Ad server/email server/ email/ campaign manager/ ad banner manager. – There are
attractive ads when we open the Agoda website to encourage customer booking in
certain time within certain offer such as lowest price.
2.9. Site tracking and reporting system – Its important to have this features in Agoda
website in order to tracking all the activities such as searching, managing booking,
booking confirmation and etc.

3.0. Inventory Management System – Of course there is an inventory management

system to restore all the history of payments, data and etc.

3. Now open one similar website such as www.trivago.com.my or

www.traveloka.com.my.

Trivago.com is a website that used to make a comparison the lowest prices between
hotels. Its compare hotel prices for the best deals at cheap prices. Allow us to save
money on our hotel serching with many of reviews and photos. Somehow, Trivago do
not manage booking at all, it will directly us to the appropriate hotel booking services
like Agoda.com or Booking.com. Trivago act as a ‘middle man’ specializing in internet
related services and products.

However Agoda.com is a website that act as hotel booking service. Agoda lets us to find
the lowest price or most highly rated hotels that we need until confirmed booking.
Agoda manage our booking directly without any middle man. Finally, we found that
agoda is more user friendly, eventhough there is lack of functions in terms of payment
only credit card is allow but we have a choice to pay later at the hotel.

6. Do some research whether each of this online booking website is also available
on mobile apps? Post a web/article link, screen shot information OR a video
related to those apps.
Agoda.com and Trivago.com both have platform (website) and devices (application). In
order to push their Apps as a primary vehicle online booking website will offer
better/special deals for those using the apps. It's our choice which platform or device
that to book on.

Agoda.com as a website offered a different prices. I have checked prices of hotel using
agoda apps and I checked using the Agoda website in my computer but apparently the
prices differ a lot. Prices in Agoda apps seem much cheaper than Agoda website.

Agoda mobile apps are an application install in your mobile phone. It is one of the
world's fastest growing online travel booking platforms. It provides travelers with easy
access to a wide choice of luxury and budget hotels, apartments, homes, and villas
