Introduction:

Good sanitation and hygiene practices play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and overall health of students.
The Researchers explored the factors influencing proper sanitation and hygiene practices among students and
examined their impact on various aspects of their lives. Today, they will present their findings and discuss the
implications of their research.

Figure 3: Most Common Factors that Influence Proper Sanitation and Hygiene Practices

In Figure 3, the researchers analyzed the responses of the participants regarding the most common factors that
influence proper sanitation and hygiene practices. The majority of respondents, 43.33%, identified "Knowledge" as
the key factor. "Efficiency/Effectiveness" was chosen by 37.78% of respondents, while "Consistency" was chosen by
16.67% of respondents. Only 2.22% of respondents selected "Others." These results indicate that knowledge is the
most influential factor in maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene practices.

Proper education and intervention are essential for promoting hand hygiene compliance and reducing school
absenteeism due to illness (Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, 2020). By equipping students with knowledge
about maintaining cleanliness in their environment and personal hygiene, the researchers can create a positive
impact on their well-being.

Figure 4.1: Health

In Figure 4.1, the researchers assessed the impact of poor sanitation and hygiene practices on students' health. The
questions regarding social anxiety, low confidence, and distraction in class due to body odor revealed insightful
findings. The mean scores of 2.88, 2.79, and 3.04 respectively indicated agreement or strong agreement among
respondents. These results suggest that students experience negative consequences on their health when proper
sanitation and hygiene practices are not maintained.

Maintaining proper hygiene is closely related to preserving health and preventing diseases (Humanitarian Global,
2021). The impact of poor sanitation and hygiene practices on students' health emphasizes the need for interventions
and measures to improve these practices.

Figure 4.2: Classroom Participation

Figure 4.2 explored the relationship between personal hygiene and students' classroom participation. The responses
indicated that students who practiced proper personal hygiene demonstrated higher confidence levels and active
participation. With mean scores of 3.41 and 3.38 for the respective questions, respondents strongly agreed that their
personal hygiene positively impacted their engagement in class. However, the question regarding feeling conscious
about body odor received a mean score of 2.37, indicating disagreement.

Poor personal hygiene and inadequate school sanitation lead to reduced confidence among students in participating
actively in the classroom (Manifesto.ph, 2021). Promoting personal hygiene practices can contribute to fostering
self-confidence among students and facilitating their overall engagement in learning.

Figure 4.3: Attendance

Figure 4.3 assessed the impact of sanitation and hygiene practices on students' attendance. The responses revealed
that students' confidence to attend school was generally high, with a mean score of 3.14. However, when it came to
the impact of unsanitary restrooms and body odor on mental and physical health, the respondents strongly disagreed,
with mean scores of 1.61 and 1.60, respectively.

Poor personal hygiene and unsanitary school environments can lead to students skipping school due to their physical
and mental health concerns (The Interfix, 2022). By ensuring clean and efficient toilet facilities, the researchers can
mitigate absenteeism and enable students to attend school regularly.
Conclusion:

In conclusion, the research conducted by The Researchers highlights the significant impact of sanitation and hygiene
practices on students' well-being. Knowledge emerges as the most influential factor in promoting proper practices.
Poor sanitation and hygiene practices adversely affect students' health, classroom participation, and attendance.

To address these issues, The Researchers recommend implementing educational programs that promote knowledge
about sanitation and hygiene practices. It is crucial to foster a clean and hygienic school environment and encourage
personal hygiene habits among students. By doing so, we can enhance students' overall well-being, promote their
confidence and engagement in the classroom, and improve their attendance rates.
