About the course outline template

This outline template offers insight and inspiration and is not prescriptive or required. During planning,
please note the following requirements:
● allocate at least 150 teaching and learning hours for SL students and 240 for HL students
● the course is designed to be delivered over two years
● where appropriate, indicates opportunities to address HL requirements from the beginning of the
course.

Note on topic coverage

Topics are intended to be studied in an iterative and integrative manner. In this way, all topics can be
addressed more than once and considered from multiple perspectives. Multiple inquiries may be developed
using the same topic and areas for inquiry. Inquiries may also combine multiple areas from several topics.
