ABSTRACT

The project consists of a water system design proposal from an existing barangay here in
Sorsogon City. It is planned to have a working water system for 30 house hold units, that is
composed of identical 30 single-story bungalows Detailed computations regarding to the flow
rate, head losses water line pipes, pipe size, pump power and fittings are included in this design.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I have taken efforts in this project. However, it would not have been possible without the
kind support and help of individuals and organizations. I would like to extend my sincere thanks
to all of them.
I would like to express my gratitude towards my parents for supporting me in my studies
mentally, financially and emotionally, I would not be here if it weren’t for them.
To my Barangay and the Barangay Officials who have provided me with the initial data
that I needed in this project.
To my friends and classmates who willingly helped me in sharing their ideas regarding
the extreme difficulties which I have needed other people’s opinion to conclude my decision.
I am highly indebted to Engr. Raymond H. Banta for his guidance, constant supervision,
and sharing us his knowledge and teaching us the way of solving Engineering problems
regarding Combustion Engineering and motivating us to study well to become a Mechanical
Engineer someday.
And lastly, to the Almighty Father forgiving me the blessings I more than deserved, the
strength I needed to tackle all the obstacles that I have faced, and for the love that I feel every
time I wake up each and every day. Everything is nothing without his great power

IV. INTRODUCTION

A. Overview
Water is one of the important necessities that we need on a
daily basis. Without a clean and potable water in a community, no one
could ever survive.

In the Philippines, out of its population of 109 million people,

57 million people (52% of the population) lack access to a
reliable, safely managed source of water, and 43 million people (39%)
lack access to safely managed household sanitation facilities. This
problem is not new, it’s been around for so many years, yet, there
haven/t been any solution to it. One of the reasons why this problem
still exits is because of the lack and failure of some parts in the
systems of water supply and distribution,

This study aims to resolve the existing problem by constructing

a useful design and plan of a water system that is well functioned,
have a good and clean servitor, tunnels and pipelines, and could
supply hundreds of households in a barangay.

B. RATIONALE

The water distribution system in V. Zuniga Street, Zone 6,

Bulan, Sorsogon is not safe and potable. There is presence of bacteria,
a distinctive smell, unpleasant mud colour, and the most evident
problem is the water scarcity. The objective of this project study is to
cater the need of water of the residence in this barangay for a long
period of time.

C. SIGNIFICANCE

a. Community

Safe and clean water supply that will last for almost 25 years to
the residents of V. Zuniga Street, Zone 6, Bulan, Sorsogon.

b. Students

Engineering students can get some useful ideas and knowledge

that will help them in doing their projects and research related to this
one.

c. Proponent
Enhance our knowledge in solving some problems, helps us
understand the significant of clean water to the community and lastly,
we can apply our knowledge from Fluid Machinery.

I. OBJECTIVES

A. GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To have a plan in improving the water distribution system in V. Zuniga

Street, Zone 6, Bulan, Sorsogon.

B. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

 To gather important information about the population and the system

in the Barangay,

 To identity the problems,

 To obtain a solution to the problem,

 To formulate computations,

 To design layout,

 To submit the proposal for approval,

 To implement the proposed project,

VI. PROJECT PLAN

 Determine first the problem or the cause of the problem.

 Think some of the probable or possible solution to the problem.

 Gather and compute the possible population for the succeeding 25 years.
 Make a preliminary design for the piping.

 Determine the day-to-day need water of each people in certain barangay.

 Design for the final layout and ready for the approval and implementation.
