    Evaluate each of the following:


    1.  i (1..25) = [25 x (25+1)] / 2
    = (25 x 26)/ 2 = 325

    2.  i (1..46) = [46 x (46+1)] / 2


    (46 x 47) / 2= 1081

    3.  i (1..43)2 =[ 43 x (43+1) x 2(43)+ 1] / 6


    [43 (44) (87)] / 6
    = 27,434
    4.  i 3(1..27) =3 x[(27 )(27+1)/2]
    = 3x ((27x28)/2)= 3 x 378
    = 1134

    Expand each of the following:


    1.  i (1..8) = 1 +2 + 3+ 4+5+6+7+8
    = 36

    2.  i (1..5)(xi – yi) =
    = (x1 – y1) + (x2 – y2) +(x3 – y3) +(x4 – y4) +(x5 – y5)

    3.  i (4..8)(3xi – 2yi) = 3 (x4 + x5 + x6 +x7 + x8) – 2 (y4 + y5 + y6 +y7 + y8)

    4.  i (3..9)(xi + i) = (x3 + 3) + (x4 + 4) + (x5 + 5) + (x6 + 6) + (x7 + 7) + (x8 + 8) + (x9+ 9)


    1.  i (1..5)(xi) = 22 + 14 + 15 + 26 + 18
    = 29

    2.  i (1..5)(xi - yi) = (22-9) + (14-15) + (15 -21)+ (26-20) + (18-10)


    = 13 + (-1) + (-6) + 6 +8
    = 20

    3.  i (1..5)(xi + yi) = (22+9) + (14+15) + (15+21)+ (26+20) + (18+10)


    = 31 + 29 + 36 + 46 +28
    = 170

    4.  i (3..5)(xi + i) = (15+3)+ (26+4) + (18+5)


    = 18 + 30 + 23
    = 71
    or  i (3..5)(xi + i)=  i (3..5)(xi) +  i (3..5)
    = (15+ 26+18) + [(5) (6)/2 – 2(3)/2]
    = 54 + 30/2- 6/2
    = 54 + 15 + 3 = 72
