3CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the (1) purpose of the study and researcher design,
(2) researcher instruments, (3) availability and performance, (4) data gathering
procedure, (5) data processing method. The purpose of this study is to
determine, formulate, and fabricate the potential indigenous materials for
water filtration.

Research Design

The research will be conducted by utilizing procedures that will be used

to obtain the availability and performance results for this study. The main
purpose of this study is to determine the potential indigenous materials for
water filtration system. The researchers will determine the relationship
between (an independent variable) and (dependent variable).

This research method was related to a scientific experiment.

Experimental design or also known as true experiment is a method that is
dependent on a theory. A theory is an idea that presented as possibly true but
not known or proven to be true. After formulating the following statement,
efforts are made to understand the study even though it is valid or invalid. This
method is mainly used in social science as there are various statements which
are needed to be proven if it is acceptable or not acceptable.

Observation method was used for it can define the kind of viewing and
record the action and behavior if the sample. It is described as being
systematic method, which is replicable so that the research can be produced.

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of the study is to find out that these materials; coconut
husk (coir fibre), banana (pseudostem), Kapuk (cotton) fibre, sand and
charcoal has the properties to be used as a filter medium alternative to the
modernized mechanical filters in the market. The researchers will create a
water filter using materials found commonly in the environment. Trough this
study, it may give benefits to the communities which lacks the ability to buy
mechanical filters or has a contaminated wafter source.

Research Locale

The research is conducted in Sara National Highschool. It is a public

highschool loacted at Brgy. Alibayog, Sara, Iloilo. The water sample will be
taken from the school's water supplies for the convenience and availability of
availability it.

Research Subjects

The research subjects that will be tested for the experiment is the water
from the school's water supply.

Due to the availability of the material and it's possibility to contain microns
and particles.

Research Instruments

The researchers will use research instruments to measure out the data
given by the research. The instruments will help in reading and analyzing the
data
