Hi teacher! My name is Thuy. I’m going to talk about “My plan for the
Tet holiday”. The most important holiday in VN is Tet. It happens from the
first day to the third day of lunar January. Tet is an occasion for a family
reunion. Tet is also a great time to forget all the sadness and frustration to
return home after a busy year.
Before Tet, I’m going to buy new clothes. I and my family are going to
clean the house and the surrounding. I’m going to buy and decorate some
plants and flowers. I and my cousins are going to whitewash our ancestors.
I’m going to help my parents make Banh Chung, Banh Tet. I'm going to
cook special traditional food such as Vietnamese sausage, boiled chicken,
pork stewed in coconut juice, pickled onion, candied fruits.
Besides, most of the streets are also decorated beautifully with colorful
lights and flowers. On New Year’s Eve, we gathered together to watch a
program named “Táo quân”. During Tet, I spend more time visiting my
relatives, friends, and colleagues. Especially, I give each other the best
wishes for the new year. Tet is an opportunity for children to receive lucky
money. There is a funny thing that people try to avoid arguments or saying
any bad things at Tet.

1. My Tet holiday this year was very exciting and special.
2. My Tet holiday was from the 20th of Lunar December to the 15th of lunar
January.
3. I came back to my hometown after I cleaned my rented room
4. Before Tet, I helped my parent to clean the house.
5. I bought some new clothes
6. I and my brother repainted the fences surrounding my house and
whitewashed our ancestor’s tombs.
7. Three days before Tet, my family made Banh Chung.
8. We decorated our house with colorful flowers, a peach blossom tree, a
Kumquat tree, red lanterns and prepared lucky money in red envelopes.
9. During Tet holiday, I and my family cooked a lot of traditional food to
offer our ancestors and held some small parties with my relatives.
10. My family visited our relatives and neighbors, went to pagodas to pray
for health, luck and success this new year. I received a lot of lucky money.
11. After Tet, I intended to return to my college but I had to stay at home
and studied on ZOOM because of covid 19.
12. At this time, we are still at home and studying online, it is quite
interesting.

Your life story
Hi teacher! My name is Thuy. I was born and grew up in a rural area in
Ha Noi.
During my childhood, I stayed with my grandparents in the countryside
because my parents worked in Hanoi. I was living in a really nice
neighborhood where kids usually played with each other in the nearby
paddy field.
When I was 10 years old, I first went to Hanoi with my parents. They
took me to visit Uncle Ho’s mausoleum, Tran Quoc pagoda, West lake. I
was very happy. Hanoi was very big, beautiful, modern but noisy and
crowded.
Now, I’m studying at Hanoi college of technology and trading. I’m a
student in Economic – K14.
It is something about my life story.
