This endeavor would not have been achievable without the involvement and support of
numerous individuals. We greatly appreciate and acknowledge their invaluable contributions.
However, the group would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and profound appreciation to the
individuals mentioned below, recognizing the immense gratitude and indebtedness owed to
them.
Before anything else, we express our deepest gratitude to God, our heavenly Father, for
providing us with the chance to obtain knowledge and experience in the use of machinery in our
line of work. The expertise he shared with us, allowed us to properly execute the tasks at hand.
Our project's efforts would have been futile if it had not been for the trusted machine shop
"Gayuma Machine Shop" conveying the needed instruction and information that established the
achievement of this project wouldn't have been feasible without their aid and engagement.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Engineer Joshua Malajito for dedicating
his time and expertise to assess our project proposal and provide valuable insights related to his
field of expertise as a dedicated instructor. Lastly, we want to extend our deepest appreciation
to our parents for their unwavering support. Their generous financial contributions enabled us to
procure the necessary materials and cover the labor expenses at the machine shop. It is
because of their support that we were able to create a satisfactory and successful final product
for this project.

CHAPTER 1- CONCEPTUALIZING THE DESIGN

In this figure, the group conducted a group meeting for the conceptualization of the
design. Each member gave different ideas as their contribution to the project. In addition, the
agenda of this meeting is to provide a standard dimension and selection of materials for the
chess piece project.

The 2nd meeting agenda of the group is accomplishing the final design for the chess
piece. Using AutoCAD, the group accomplishes the design and dimensions. The group also talk
about the fabrication of the design and choosing an affordable machine shop for this project.

Rey Mallari, one of the members of the group is in charge of buying the materials that shall be
used for this project.

The group chose Gayuma Machine Shop for the actual production of the
chess piece. Each member is attentive and observant to gain knowledge about the
practical application of lathe machines hand ow the entire machine shop business runs.

The members of the group observe the entire process of making a

chess piece called “pawn”. The machinist used a lathe machine for this project. The
following pictures are photos of the poon in the lathe machine.

Using the lathe machine, the machinist creates the chess piece with accuracy and
precision.

Each group member experienced operating a lathe machine under the

supervision of a trained machinist. The machinist briefly explains the safety while
operating the lathe machine. This experience is memorable since all of the members of
the group are 1st time to try lathe machine. It helps them to learn and get familiar with
lathe machines’ operation.

In this figure, the chess pieces are polished and ready to use for
playing. The color of each piece is dark since the group was assigned to the black
pieces.
