Topic: Catching a Hummingbird

Objetive:

Identify and explain in a video an endangered species in Peru. (animal)

Project

Considering the National Geographic video for Unit 11, located in the E-book, students will
work in groups (maximum 3) to plan a similar video about an endangered animal in Peru.

Hummingbirds, in danger of extinction


Hummingbirds currently face great predation at the
expense of hunting since their colorful feathers attract,
since they are highly appreciated to make ornaments and to
perform rituals, they often use their feathers to make
decorative items or ornaments. In addition, the
indiscriminate felling of trees leads to the degradation and
destruction of the hummingbird's natural habitats, home to
these beautiful birds. According to the (IUCN), of all known
hummingbird species, 9 are critically endangered, another
9 are considered vulnerable, and 11 have been listed as
endangered. There are almost 30 species of hummingbirds
that are in danger of disappearing.
The hummingbird is constantly exposed to threats that
endanger its survival, including hunting. Likewise,
hummingbirds are rarely sold alive, in most cases they die
because they are extremely delicate birds. The suffering of
