I am writing to express my keen interest in applying for the PhD position in Aquifer Storage and
Recovery and Managed Aquifer Recharge for Drought Resilience in VRIJE UNIVERSITEIT
BRUSSEL. As a dedicated environmentalist who has always been passionate about sustainable
water management solutions, I believe that this role aligns perfectly with my interests and
academic background. Throughout my academic journey, I have actively pursued opportunities to
engage with real-world challenges related to water management. From participating in field trips
to conducting lab experiments, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of water resource
management strategies and the impact of climate change on the availability of water.
During my previous research projects work with KU Leuven on Vliruos project, I have
successfully demonstrated my skills in data analysis, experimentation, and problem-solving on
groundwater modeling and dought resilience. One of my projects involved studying the potential
of rainwater harvesting as an innovative solution for drought-prone regions in Ethiopia: like
Borena. This experience helped me understand the importance of having sustainable water
infrastructure in place and how Aquifer Storage and Recovery could be effectively harnessed for
similar benefits.
In closing, I am excited about the opportunity this PhD research project presents to advance
equitable and sustainable water management practices. I look forward to the chance to work
collaboratively with esteemed scientists and invent innovative solutions to improve drought
resilience.
Sincerely,
