I am writing to express my interest in EPSRC PhD Studentship in: Managing Strategic
Infrastructure To Ensure Safe Drinking Water, The University of Sheffield, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. As a passionate and young water supply, hydrologist, and environmental engineer with knowledge of water supply, water quality, climate change, biogeochemistry laboratory analysis of water samples, and data science, I am confident that my skills and experience will make a significant contribution to your research team. My passion for this field led me to conduct my bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in water supply and environmental/sanitation engineering. Through this discipline, I gained invaluable hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of how water supply schemes can be significantly impacted by natural and manmade environmental disasters. Through my academic background and extensive research experience, I have developed a deep understanding of water supply, hydrological, climate change, and watershed systems, particularly concerning urban and rural water supply, water quality and geochemistry of the regional groundwater, and the impact of the watershed on water supply schemes, water quality of the receiving water bodies like lakes and reservoirs. I have conducted fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and data analysis on various research projects that revolve around the complex interactions among resilient water supply schemes, climate change, hydrology, watershed, and water quality. Furthermore, I have appreciable knowledge in watershed modeling tool (SWAT), considerable skill in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) particularly, spatial data analysis, strong programming skill in Python, and I am experienced in working with complex datasets, analyzing large amounts of geospatial and temporal data, and using statistical methods to derive meaningful insights. Therefore, as an ambitious water supply engineer, hydrologist, and environmentalist, I am eager to contribute to this critical field of study through research and practice. I am confident that I could contribute significantly to your team. I am excited to join and work on projects focused on implementing new approaches for the sustainable management of water resources. Thank you very much for considering my application.
