WHAT ARE CLIMATE EXTREME EVENTS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON DEVELOPING

COUNTRIES?
Climate is the long-term pattern of weather in a particular area. Weather can change from hour-to-
hour

day-to-day, month-to-month or even year-to-year. A region weather patterns usually tracked for at
least 30

years are considered it's climate. t's the mean and variability of metrological variables of time
spanning.

✍️Extreme events of climate on developing countries: coping capacity and adaptation

Developing countries are vulnerable to extreme climate events. Over the decade of the
1990s,

both the number and severity of such events increased.

primary climatic events

•Floods (riverine, rain. storm, fash and glacial lake outburst floods, etc.).

•Droughts (hydrological, meteorological and agricultural, etc.)

•Tropical cyclones (hurricanes, typhoons, etc.)

•Heat waves or cold waves.

•Coustal storms and storm generated surges.

✍️Secondary events ( may be climate-driven)

• Malnutrition or under nutrition and hunger (caused by infrastructure

damage, employment and equity problems)

• Outbreaks of diseases or epidemics

•Rural and urban water shortages (may be aggravated by equity problem).

•Crop plantation failure or harvest failure are extreme events.

✍️How climate are effect on developing countries?

There are many effects of climate on developing countries. This mean effect on socio-economic.
Expected regional impact of extreme events are many. Such as increases in droughts, floods

and other extreme events will add to stress on water resources, food security, human health

and infrastructure. Desertification, exacerbated by reductions in average annual rainfall, runoff

and soil moisture.

Affecting agriculture and hydro-power systems.

Climate change increase energy demand, decrease tourism, and influence transportation in

developing countries. Affect human settlements, productive activities, increased risk from storm
surges

reduced freshwater resources ( saltwater intrusion) Affect includine exports of cash crops, coastal

ecosystems. Affect the source of foreign exchange and agricultural productivity.
