Ancient Objects From History

-Brendin Krozier
Curative Paragraph

I have chosen to create this exhibit through analyzing the different types and works of art through different
civilizations and time periods. The structure of this exhibit has been improved through analyzing the different
patterns for which people will usually go through an exhibit to help to try to increase interest and interaction.
The different types of people who will go to a museum has also been taken into consideration for the
construction of this exhibit to help reach the maximum amount of audience as possible. These different
works of art are all similar to each other in the fact that they were all involved in famous works of art
throughout the course of history for these different civilizations. This exhibit was established because of the
importance of these different items and works of art, and their importance with their corresponding
civilization.
Winged Victory of Samothrace
Greece
Originated around 100-199 B.C.
5.57x2.25 Meters^2
This marble statue depicts the Greek
Goddess of Victory, Nike,
triumphantly stepping onto the front
of a ship, and this statue was created
to help commemorate a successful
sea battle.
Stone Mason’s Chisel
Ancient Egypt
2051-2000 B.C.
19.5x2.2 Cm^2
This stone chisel was found in a tomb with six
burials, and was not from anytime in the
post-Mentuhoteb II date, and shows some of the
tools used to help to create the Great Pyramids.

Ancient Chinese Wheelbarrow

China
Around 0-99 B.C.
This ancient wheelbarrow originates from China
in the first century B.C. and has been referred to
as “wooden ox” or “wooden goat”, and was a
crucial part of the construction for parts of the
Great Wall of China
Roman Colosseum
Rome
70-72 C.E.
189x156 Meters^2
This colosseum was built from 70-72 C.E. with Roman
concrete, with a hundred day gladiatorial celebration that
was held to celebrate its finished creation.

History of Origami
Japan
Originated around 500-599 C.E.
Originally created by elite in Japanese society or monks for
religious purposes, but then was adopted by commoners
due to standardized use of paper, and is usually associated
from Japan but originates from China.
Location

For the structure of my exhibit, I would want to put some the most interesting items to the widest
array of audience, probably the colosseum and the History of Origami, with one of them being near the
entrance and one near the exit, while not right next to those. This would be because they would need to go
through all of the exhibit to be able to reach both of them, without just skipping things and only seeing those
two items. After that, I would also want to put the most interesting item in the center to attract the most
attention, which would be the Winged Victory of Samothrace statue. This exhibit would probably take place
in the ancient history section, and this exhibit could be classified further as the “Items involved with great
empires” category.
Similarities
Throughout these different objects, there are some commonalities amongst themselves. An example
of this would include the use of the element of art, form, which is used quite frequently throughout these
different objects. Another commonality would be the use of the principle of design, harmony, which is also
shown quite frequently in the structure of these objects. Although there are some similarities, there would
not be very many similarities between these objects in terms of technical properties. And one final similarity
between these objects would be that they were all significant and important in their own culture and
civilizations.
