The Meaning and Relevance of History

1. The three things that I significantly learned from the readings are:

Make Ourselves Calm - By reading, we can be calmer and more relaxed, because
usually, we have more often listened to the noise of all human activities that go through
life. Usually, we will look for a quiet place and atmosphere to avoid noise, so we can
focus and concentrate while reading. Although sometimes there are also those who can
focus on reading even in noisy places. However, the average person will look for a quiet
place to focus more on reading.

Adding knowledge - Of course, we will not only read one book or one type of reading.
There are so many types of reading such as science, history books, novels, and various
other types of reading. With the cellphones that we have, it becomes easier for us to get
the latest news readings and all kinds of good reading, which of course will add to our
knowledge of many things.

Help Us In Writing – The benefits of reading will also help us a lot to increase our
vocabulary in writing. In addition, we also become aware of how to write well and
correctly. By reading many different types of books. Although at first it is boring.
However, if you are used to reading and know the various benefits of reading, this will
become a very enjoyable reading activity.

2. The three things that are still unclear to me are:

For me, the three things that are still unclear and broad concepts for me are, First, the
difference between cultural imperialism and media imperialism is still unclear to me.
Second, it is unclear why western culture is the basis of imperialism. Lastly, it is still
unclear to me that there are some weaknesses regarding cultural imperialism.
3. I used to think that:

I used to think that media has only been used for plain information dissemination and
advertisements. Nowadays, it is easier to gather information through media but most of
its information are opinions, fake news, and other information without proofs.
Globalization needs strong evidence and information so that we can fully understand
what is happening to this world in terms of Globalization. We, especially students should
be aware that not all media information are facts and instead of searching for
information through media, let’s ask ourselves first if we are affected or encountered by
Globalization process. Now, I’ve learned the impact of media on globalization.

4. The three things I want to ask about the readings are:

- Can the reading/study still be improved

- Are there other external factors in which we can see the implications of media in
globalization?

- Are there more studies which support reading?..
