Introduction

The Liberation War of Bangladesh took place in 1971 when East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) declared its
independence from West Pakistan (now Pakistan). India played a crucial role in helping Bangladesh
achieve its independence from Pakistan.

India supported Bangladesh in various ways from the very beginning of War .

They provided us shelter by allowing millions of refugees, they also provided diplomatic support,
military assistance by forming ‘Joint Force’ with ‘Mukti Bahini’ and also helped us to get world
recognition. India also trained our natives and gave equipment’s to fought against the Powerful military
of West Pakistan.

Their contribution in our liberation war is often unsung.Their soldiers were sacrificed which narrates the
support of India was so sincere and genuine. We would have faced many difficulties without their
support from medicine to allowing refugee’s or even providing arms or the military assistance every
single support was so necessary for Bangladesh that can not be described in words.
