SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

GRADE-3

I. Objective:
At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to;
a. Identify comparative adjectives,
b. Use the comparative form of adjectives in describing places, persons, ideas, and
events.
c. Appreciate the importance of using comparative adjectives in the sentence.

References: ENGLISH BOOK Grade-3


Materials: pictures, manila paper and pentel pen.

III.Learning Activities
A. Preparatory Activities:
1. Prayer, listing down the absentee

2. Review:

Identify the adjectives in the paragraph.

I have a big garden. It is planted with different beautiful plants. I water them
every day. My plants give me fresh flowers.

3. Motivation

Present pictures of object that start from smaller to bigger ask the pupils about the
picture.
B. Read the conversation between Richard and Bonyok:

Comprehension Check-up:
1. Who is tall?
2. Who is taller?
3. Who is stout?
4. Who is stouter?

C. Skill Development:
1. Let’s compare Bonyok and Richard:
Who is taller? Richard or Bonyok? Who is stouter than Bonyok?
Who is stronger than Richard?

2. Compare yourself with your classmates; Baguio and Manila; Eagle and Maya;
Lizard and turtle.

3.. Infusion of Values:

How should you make comparisons? (Always consider others feeling).

4. Discussion/Abstraction:

Use the -er ending in comparing two persons or things.

Sample: Mother is shorter than Father.

A bee is smaller than a butterfly.

D. Generalization:

How do we form the comparative degree of the adjectives?

E. Group Activity:

Look at the pictures carefully. Make a comparison using sentences. (Let them write their
sentences in a ½ Manila paper).

F. Independent Exercises:
Underline the word inside the parenthesis that makes the comparison correct:
1. The banana is (sweeter, sweet) than the santol.
2. The Mabolo tree is (stronger, strong) than the banana plan.

Write sentences comparing the following:

2. elephant - lion

Compare the following
1. truck - cart
2. bed - pillow
