Preliminary Activity
What does it mean when your superior says, “I can’t understand what you’re saying? What
do you think you need to do?

Maybe because the superior need to understand what you said is unclear or he
needs to understand what you are referring to. For me, when there is a problem or
conflict at work, tell your superior what the problem is and say it properly and
clearly so that it can be understood.

Activity 1

Your organization has recently promoted several area managers.  The employees in your
company have been experiencing difficulty understanding communications from these
area managers.  The Vice President, Patricia Delos Santos, has asked you to develop a short
checklist to orient managers on good workplace communication skills.  She plans to have a
training session soon.  List and discuss the items you will present in your checklist.
For me, in an organization, if you have a workmate who is struggling with
communication skills, help him and how you deliver him or your work
organization. And tell the manager that a workmate is struggling to understand
communication skills.

Activity 2

How will you exhibit communication skills when communicating over the telephone and in
electronic mail? Support your discussion with examples.

a. Courteousness
-For me in work or the boss instructs me to call the employees or manager, I
need to be respectful in my speech and be respectful to anyone to that you
deliver an email in others.

b. Precision

- It’s all about being good employees and respecting those above you don't
talk if there is no point in what is being discussed in the meeting, and if you
are asked to do something, don't talk.

c. Appropriate language

- Avoid slang and jargon. Also, avoid sensitive subjects. Personal and
intimate conversations are not appropriate for the workplace. Politics,
someone's financial situation, religious beliefs, and political ideologies are
off-limits.

JEREMY ALIANGAN D.
BSBA-HRM,

Preliminary Activity
Recall an office you recently visited.  Describe the physical appearance of the office. Write
your answer on MS Word.  Label your paper with Preliminary Activity for Module 4 in
PBSOA 004, and do not forget to write your complete name

I remember the last time I visited the office at city hall. If you can see their office,
it is well designed, and they use an open office concept. And in others, it is close
door-to-door sitting. And the color of their office is beautiful on the way to refresh
your brain, and their chairs are comfortable; the inside is cool and perfect for
employees.

Activity 1

In the management office space, the Administrative Office Manager works towards
creating a comfortable, satisfying environment in which the people work.  Discuss how this
objective can be attained.?
If you look at it, the manager's office is clean with many designs that can be seen
where he feels comfortable in his workplace, like the secretary or assistant
manager. In office, management office are more diligent and more so looks good.

Activity 2

Instructions: Place your layout in a separate file (pdf or MSWord format). Label your paper
with  Activity 2  for Module 4 in PBSOA 004, and do not forget to write your complete name.
Currently, six employees are housed in an open-plan portion of the payroll department
that occupies 300 square feet (a space that is 12 feet wide and 25 feet long).  Because of
expansion, two more workers must be added to the space presently occupied, as shown in
the figure below.  Prepare a revised layout that permits eight workstations using the same
desk and chair sizes.  No additional furniture and equipment, other than a visitor’s chair,
should be provided for each workstation.

Activity 3

Explain how office environment and health affects the work produced in the office.

An improper and unfavorable workplace environment leads to work stress. It also

causes errors being committed by the employees. Also, unfavorable workplace
environment, results into under-utilization of the capabilities available with the
employees. It also induces work related stress in the employees.
