Activity 3: REFLECTION
1. What can you say about Neoclassical architecture?
- Neoclassical architecture was heavily inspired by the architecture of Classical Greece and Rome and
had several styles such as Temple, Palladian, and Classical Block style; each of them with their own
different and unique characteristics.

2. What are the characteristics of each of the different styles of Neoclassical buildings?
Temple Style – Based on ancient temples, features a peristyle (continuous line of columns around a
building)
Palladian Style – Has a flat or low lying roof, feature a balustrade (railing with vertical supports along the
edge of the roof)
Classical Block Style – Feature a rectangular or square plan, has a flat roof with exterior rich in detail

3. Give some examples of buildings that have the influences of the architectural style of Neoclassicism in
our country.
- Some examples of Neo-classical architecture in the Philippines are the Manila City Hall, the National
Museum of the Philippines, the Department of Tourism building, and more.
