ART APPRECIATION SPECIAL M&E1

1. Art Nouveau.

Advocacy Painting: ‘You are More Than Size’

Being an advocate of body positivity, this painting seeks to promote fair acceptance and
representation of bodies in all shapes and sizes, hoping that society and media will be more
inclusive in terms of such matter. This piece is indeed one of the best I made, as it supports
a movement that contradicts and challenges the current beauty standards and
discriminatory social construct. The artwork also represents a positive body image that
conveys self-esteem, making you feel comfortable in your skin and allows you to embrace
your body as it is—seeing it as beautiful. By doing such work of art, we can lift each other
from negativities and foster a progressive environment that promotes appreciation towards
the diversity of all bodies, regardless of size, shape, skin tone, and so on.

2. Art in Introspection of Life.

Upon doing the portfolio, certain learnings were able to widen my perspective and mindset
regarding art in general. It is indeed true that art is an expression of one’s inner thoughts,
feelings, and personal experiences that allows the person to process their emotions and
know themselves even more. However, art can also be a reflection of society, culture, and
social commentary, hence making it a social statement. Everyone can be a reflector,
translator, and mediator of any societal issues in today's world, and although art is widely
used as self-reflection and expression, it can also be powerful and persuasive tool as it can
have a social function that can challenge our understanding in the world in which we live
in.

3. Final Message for your Professor.

Hi, Sir Stranger! I am certain that along with my block mates, we are beyond grateful to
have you as our professor in this subject. You have challenged our inner creativity and
helped us not only to express ourselves freely in doing pieces of artwork but also to be
more socially aware while doing these outputs. I know that although face-to-face
interactions were limited in the short time that we had, we will forever treasure such a great
experience with you. Best of luck in law school! :)
