CHARACTERISTICS OF A STAR

A star is a massive, luminous object that

is held together by its own gravity and
generates energy through nuclear fusion
in its core. Stars come in a variety of
sizes, colors, and temperatures, and they
play a crucial role in the universe by
creating and distributing heavy elements
necessary for the formation of planets
and life. The closest star to Earth is the
Sun, which is classified as a G-type
main-sequence star. Other types of stars
include red giants, white dwarfs, neutron
stars, and black holes, each with their
own unique characteristics and
properties.
Some of the characteristics of a star include:

1.Mass: Stars range in mass from just a

fraction of the mass of the Sun to dozens of
times greater than the mass of the Sun.
2.Size: Stars come in a range of sizes, from
small dwarf stars to massive giants. Size is
related to a star's mass, with larger stars
having more mass.
3.Temperature: The temperature of a star
determines its color and is related to its age,
mass, and size. The hottest stars appear blue
or white, while cooler stars appear red.
4.Luminosity: Luminosity is a measure of the
total amount of energy a star radiates per
second. It is related to a star's temperature,
size, and age.
