Activities to do - Greet the students and establish rapport.
Warm-up
- Divide the class into two teams and designate spots on the
blackboard for each team to write on.
- Write the numbers one to five in a list in each team’s section.
- Write a topic at the top of the blackboard, the topic can be
anything, but be sure to make it general, or whatever you’ve
been teaching them recently.
- Choose a student from each team to come to the blackboard and
act as “writers”.
- Place spoons equal to the number of teams minus one within a
fairly equal distance from each writer.
- When you say “GO”, the writers must write five things related
to the topic on the board as fast as they can.
- When the writers are finished, they must grab a spoon.
- Count the number of correct answers for each team, awarding
points for each one.
- The team who didn’t grab a spoon does not have their points
counted.
- Play three or four rounds, alternating writers.

Lead-in
-Ask questions to students.
“What do you know about jobs/occupations?”
“Which occupation do you want to be in your future?”
-Elicit the answers.

Introduce the Topic


-State the topic
-Show the ppt slide about occupations and ask students
“What are they? Yes, they are jobs. OK. Today our topic is
OCCUPATIONS. ”

Pre-Listening Stage

-Open the PPT slide and show the target occupations with the pictures.
“Nurse.”
-Repeat and make students repeat.
-Do the same for every word. (Plumber, carpenter, police officer,
secretary,

“Look at the questions. I want you to answer these questions
with your partners.”
- Put students in pairs.
- Set the time. “You have 5 minutes. You can start.”
- Monitor the students.
- Indicate the time left.
- Finish the activity.
- Give feedback.

Introduce the characters.


- Introduce the characters.
“Now, look at the picture. There are 6 people. Joanna, George,
Sam, Eric, Marianne and Julie. This is Sam, this one is Eric etc.
They have occupations. But we don’t know their jobs yet. We will
listen to a track and find their jobs!
- Check understanding.

While Listening Stage


Activity I
- Give the instruction.
“Now everyone, we have an audio about these people’s
occupations. Listen and match their occupations with the
pictures. Write their names in the blanks.”
- Check the instruction.
- Have students listen to the audio.
- Replay the audio if necessary.
- Set the time.
“You have 8 minutes. You can begin.”
- Start the activity.

- If needed, help the students.
