Update Instructions
BiG SiX V1.18 Firmware Release

Release Notes
BiG SiX - This release contains optimisations/bug fixes for the AD/DA converters as follows:
 Adjusted DC-Blocking Filter to ADC channels to improve noise performance.
 Resolved polarity inversion on ADC Chans 5-12.
SSL2/2+ - This release contains the much requested loopback feature.

Update applications are provided for both macOS and Windows. Firmware is loaded via the USB
cable provided with the console; no other hardware is required.
Only one console at a time may be updated/connected to the computer being used.

BiG SiX Update from Windows App


The current V5.30.0 driver for BiG SiX must be installed for the application below to run.
Earlier driver versions (5.12.0) are not compatible with this updater.

1. Confirm driver V5.30.0 installed by clicking on the SSL USB Control Panel icon in the
Windows Task Bar.
2. Locate the BiG SiX V1.18 Update package for Windows and extract the files.
3. Connect the console via USB-C and power on.
4. Launch the SslUsbAudioDfu.exe file to open the updater application. The console will
automatically be detected and display its current firmware version (e.g. v1.15), plus a
message saying ‘Ready for firmware update….’ in the main Upgrade window.
5. Select Start to update. The Upgrade window terminal will display ‘Firmware upgrade finished
successfully’ upon completion.*

*Should the firmware update fail of be interrupted while in progress, power off the console,
relaunch the updater application then power on the console once more to re-attempt.

Update from macOS App


There are no driver requirements for macOS as the console utilises Core Audio.

1. Locate the BiG SiX V1.18 Update package for macOS and unzip the files.
2. Connect the console via USB-C and power on.
3. Launch the BiG SiX V1.18 Update app to automatically detect the console and its current
firmware version (e.g. v1.15).
4. Select Update BiG SiX. A further pop-up warning appears; confirm you wish to start the
update by selecting Begin.
5. A ‘Firmware update completed’ message will appear. Select OK to close the window. Further
confirmation is displayed in the main application window.*

*Should the firmware update fail of be interrupted while in progress, power off the console, relaunch
the updater application then power on the console once more to re-attempt.

SSL2/2+ Update from Windows App


SSL2/2+ Update from Windows App
1. Download and install the SSL USB ASIO/WDM Audio Driver v5.30.0.13.
2. Locate the SSL Audio Firmware Updater package for Windows and extract the files.
3. Connect the Interface to the Windows machine via a USB cable as normal.
4. Launch the SslUsbAudioDfu.exe file to open the updater application. If you are on a 32-bit
operating system go into the x86 folder to find this. If you are on a 64-bit operating system go
into the x64 folder to find this.

Once you've launched SslUsbAudioDfu.exe, the audio interface will automatically be detected
and display its current firmware version (e.g. v0.61), plus a message saying ‘Ready for
firmware update….’ in the main Upgrade window.
5. Select Start to update. The Upgrade window terminal will display ‘Firmware upgrade
finished successfully’ upon completion.*

Update from macOS App


There are no driver requirements for macOS as the console utilises Core Audio.

1. Locate the SSL Audio Firmware Updater package for macOS and unzip the files.
2. Connect the Interface via USB-C and power on. Connecting USB-C to USB-C will not work
and update will fail. You must connect USB-A to USB-C, If their Mac only has USB C sockets,
then a USB Hub that has a USB A connection will be needed – something like this will work
fine.
3. Launch the SSL Audio Firmware Updater app to automatically detect the interface and its
current firmware version (e.g. v0.61).
4. Select Update Device. The device will begin the update process.
5. A ‘Device Firmware update complete’ message will appear. You can now close the window.

the updater application then power on the console once more to re-attempt.
