CRPF successfully runs Anti-Naxal Operation under ‘Operation Shadow’ in
Munger
Why is in News ?
• The Naxalites' hideout in Munger district's Khapra hill area was destroyed by
the CRPF CoBRA unit under the command of SP J.J. Reddy.
Key Point : -
• The Naxalites were targeted by the
‘Operation Shadow’ (Search and
Destroy) in the forested and steep
terrain of Dharhara in Munger.
• This was the CPI-Maoist group's top-
secret training center, from which
cutting-edge weapons and other
dubious products were traded.
• According to a Home Ministry report
ten districts in Bihar (Aurangabad,
Gaya, Munger, Jamui, Kaimur, Nawada, Lakhisarai, Banka, Rohtas, and West
Champaran) are still plagued by the Naxals.
• The districts Aurangabad, Gaya, Jamui, and Lakhisarai have been identified as
being the most severely impacted by naxalism, whereas six other districts in
Bihar—Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Arwal, East Champaran, and
Vaishali—have now been deemed to be free of naxalism.

The largest elevated corridor in Bihar Danapur - Shivala - Bihta alignment was
approved
Why is in News ?
• On July 15, 2022, the National Highways
Authority of India (NHAI) published a
tender for the building of an elevated
corridor connecting the ESI Medical
College in Bihta with the Danapur Railway
Station.
Key Points : -
• The largest four-lane elevated roadway in
Bihar will be built for a cost of Rs. 51 crore.

The elevated road has a total length of 21 km, of which 4 kilometres are
included up until the Koilvar bridge.
• Under the elevated Danapur-Bihta corridor, a connection road has been
constructed for the Bihta airport. Additionally, bypasses are planned for
Neuraganj, Panal, Kanholi, and Bishanpura at the same time.
• A tunnel will connect traffic using this elevated corridor coming from Patna to
the airport at Bihta.
• A ramp will be constructed for the elevated route leading from Saguna Mor.
• An underpass and four bridges will be built between Bihta and Koilwar.
• The elevated corridor project is a component of the Prime Minister's Package
2015 for Bihar, which is worth mentioning.
• The state government spent Rs 456 crore of its own funds to acquire the land
for this. The state government would give up land in Hardinge Park's
southernmost section in exchange for the railway land in Danapur.

Inauguration of emergency number 112 and the command and control centre
for the Emergency Response Support System

Why is in News ?
• On July 6, 2022, Shri Nitish Kumar, the state's chief minister, launched the Dial-
112 service under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).
• All calls to the emergency numbers 100 or 101 that are currently in operation
will now be routed to this command and control room.

• Emergency response vehicle services are
now being made available for free to
Bihar's regular inhabitants. As soon as
possible-within 15 to 20 minutes-an
emergency response vehicle will be sent to
the scene of the accident to help the victim.
• The people of Bihar state have the option of
dialling the 112 number to receive
assistance in the event of an emergency,
including the safety of women, children, and

senior citizens, as well as in the event of an arson, accident, police assistance,
medical emergency, vehicle accident, or any other emergency.
• This project's first phase has received sanction for about Rs 176 crore. In the
upcoming phase of the project, it is planned to reach all region of Bihar.
• 400 Emergency Response Vehicles will also be made available to the general
public under the supervision of the cutting - edge Integrated Emergency
Response Support System (ERSS) command and control centre to aid the
victim.
• To respond immediately to emergency situations, over 7,000 police officers
have been stationed in the cutting-edge Central Command and Control facility.
Along with two officials of the rank of SP, it also consists of police officers from
the rank of constable to inspector. The Inspector General of the Police

• The emergency medical service of bihar state needs to be improved and made
more effective, thus last year the chief minister of the state decided to replace
all of the old government ambulances with 1000 brand-new advance
ambulances.

Mahavir Cancer Institute.

• The Governor of the State, His Excellency Mr. Fagu Chauhan, opened the bone
marrow transplant unit, brachytherapy, and echocardiography machine at the
Mahaveer Cancer Institute and announced a contribution of Rs. 50 lakh to the
Institute from his discretionary grant fund.

Vishnudev Narayan Singh, a freedom fighter, passed away

• Vishnudev Narayan Singh, a freedom fighter, passed away on July 22, 2022, at
the age of 98, as a consequence of a protracted illness.

of the Chitkhor village in the Tikari
block of Gaya.
• The Bihar State Freedom Fighter
Organization was currently led by the
late Vishnudev Narayan Singh Ji.

participate in the Indian freedom
struggle in the year 1939 at the age of
14.
• Late Vishnudev Narayan Singh was arrested many times by the British
government during the Indian independence movement.

where women who produce a wide variety of handicrafts, handlooms, food
items, arts and crafts, Madhubani paintings, and Tikuli art can bring many

• A high-level review meeting for the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyaan was


conducted in Samvad at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on July 23, 2022, with
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar serving as the meeting's chairman.
• The Chief Minister delivered departmental directives to the concerned officers
during this meeting to ensure that the arrangements for environmental
maintenance and protection were in place.

28 thousand tonnes of mushroom has been produced in Bihar in the year 2021-

• In the year 2007-08, there was an annual fish production of 2 lakh 88 thousand
tonnes in the state, whereas in the year 2020-21 this production has increased
to 7 lakh 62 thousand tonnes.

Bihar is ranked 15th in the Innovation Index, 2021

Why is in news ?

• Bihar moved up two places from the previous year in the third Innovation
Index published by NITI Aayog in 2021.
• Bihar was at the bottom of the list of the 17 big states in the India Innovation
Index for the year 2020, but it jumped to the 15th place in the index for the
year 2021.

its second edition was released

• According to the India Innovation
Index, Karnataka is first among the
large states. In this ranking,
Telangana is in second position,

11.58. Karnataka is in first place with a score of 18.01. For the third year in a
row, Karnataka has held the top position.
• Orissa comes in at number 16 while Chhattisgarh comes in at number 17 in the
list of the 17 states, which includes Bihar.
• The India Innovation Index, developed by NITI Aayog and the Institute for
Competitiveness, is a thorough instrument for assessing and expanding the
nation's innovation ecosystem. In order to preserve healthy competition
among them, it rates the States and Union Territories based on their innovative
performance.
• This index was created in the same vein as the Global Innovation Index.
• The Innovation Index ranks the states according to three separate categories :
- Big states, Hill states in the North East, and Union Territories.
• A total of 66 indicators have been included under its 7 main pillars. India
Innovation Index 2020 had 36 indicators in all.

• On July 4, 2022, the State Startup Ranking 2021, which featured a total of 24
states and 7 union territories, was published by Commerce and Industry
Minister Shri Piyush Goyal.
Key Points : -

concepts in the industrial sector
take root.
• The Department for Promotion of
Industry and Internal Trade, or
DPIIT, publishes the Startup
Ranking. In this, ranking the
states and union territories with
the best environments for startups
are ranked.
• This score is determined by the steps taken to create a startup ecosystem that
will support aspiring entrepreneurs.
• The Startup Ranking ranked the States and UTs under five categories:

1. Best Performer :- Gujarat, Meghalaya and Karnataka.


2. Top Performers: - Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana
and Jammu and Kashmir.
3. Leaders:- Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh,
Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh and Goa.
4. Aspiring Leaders:- Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Puducherry and Nagaland.
5. Emerging Startup Ecosystem :- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar,

• Meghalaya received the honour of being the best performing state among
smaller states, while Gujarat was recognised as the best performing state for
the third consecutive year.

Rajya Sabha.

representatives of the States and Union Territories and 12 members to be
nominated by the President.
• The term of office for each member is six years. The ex-officio chairman of the
Rajya Sabha is the vice president of India. A Deputy Speaker is furthermore
chosen by this House's members.
• The Rajya Sabha also comprises of a group of deputy chairman. The Leader of
the House is chosen by the Prime Minister and is the senior-most minister who

IIT and NIT Patna are the only two colleges from Bihar that were included in
the NIRF rankings 2022

Why is in News ?

• The rankings for the session 2022 have been made public by the National
Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
• Only IIT Patna and NIT Patna, two instituti ons from Bihar, are listed in the top
100 of the NIRF ranking.

position 59. While NIT Patna and

63rd and 33rd in the engineering
category.
• The best colleges, universities, and
other educational institutions in the
nation are ranked annually on the basis of their performance by the National
Institutional Ranking Framework.
• All other factors used to determine this ranking are based on the standard of
education offered by universities, colleges, and other institutions of higher
learning. This list was made public in September of the previous year.
• There are a total of 11 categories on this ranking list of the best colleges and
institutions in India. Universities, Management, Colleges, Pharmacy, Medicine,
Engineering, Architecture, Atal Ranking of Institutes on Innovation
Achievements (ARIIA 2021), Law and Research, Institutes, and Overall are
some of these categories.
• According to the NIRF ranking, IIT Madras has been ranked as the best
engineering institute in the country and IISC Bangalore as the top university.
• It is important to note that Bihar is currently in a scenario where education is
receiving the state government's top priority. The state government has
allocated the maximum budget amount of Rs. 39191.87 crore for improving
education in the fiscal year 2022–2023

Mansa temple in Madhubani is being constructed on the model of Lingaraj
temple

Why is in News ?

• In Madhubani district, where Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, the


Shankaracharya of Poorvamnaya Govardhan Math, Puri Peeth, was born, a
temple dedicated to Mansa Devi is now being built.
• This temple, which is devoted to Lord Shiva, is the greatest and original
example of Kalinga architecture and Orissa style in Bihar.

• In the Odisha style, similar to the


Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, the
Manasa temple in Madhubani is now
being constructed. Garbha Griha,
Yagya Shailam, Bhoga Mandapa, and
Natyasala are the four basic
categories into which this type of
temples is divided.
• Red bricks are being used to carve out
the sanctum sanctorum of this temple,
which is 70 feet long and 33 feet wide.
• The idol of Mansa Mata will be placed in this temple, just as the figure that is
now housed in Haridwar's Mansa Devi temple.
• One of Bhubaneshwar's oldest and most beautiful temples is this one. The
Hindu god Lord Shiva, also known as Harihara, is the major focus of the
Lingaraja Temple
• The concept that Mansa Devi is Shaivi, Lord Shankar's student, and that she is
a manifestation of Vishhara Mata is well-known.
• Lalat Indu Kesari, who governed this region from the 615th to the 657th
century, is credited by historian Fergusson with initiating the construction of
this temple.
• The Soma dynasty's Somvanshi ruler Jajati Keshari constructed the current
temple in the eleventh century. He also moved his capital from Jaipur to

Nilgai.

The capital city of Patna's Veer Kunwar Singh Park will serve as the first
permanent traffic park of Bihar

• The Transport Department will build traffic parks in every district of Bihar to
practically warn and make people aware of their surroundings in an effort to
minimise the number of road accidents that occur in the state.
• In three of the state's cities-Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur-temporary traffic
parks have now been established.

park in Bihar will be located at the
4,900 square foot Veer Kunwar
Singh Park in Patna. In the traffic
park, knowledge on traffic laws
will be provided to kids and
teenagers.
• There will be a road, a little
footbridge, a mock-up building, a

the traffic park. Traffic signals
along the road in the traffic park, signage such as zebra crossings and U-turns,

Understanding (MoU) with many
exploration-related organisations,
including GSI and the National
Mineral Development
Corporation (NMDC).
• Approximately 222.8 million
tonnes of gold deposits, including 37.6
tonnes of ore rich in minerals, are thought to exist in the Jamui district of Bihar,
according to an assessment by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
• In terms of gold reserves, Bihar has the majority. 44 percent of the nation's
total gold reserves, or 222.8 million tonnes, are now held by Bihar.
• The National Mineral Inventory states that as of April 1, 2015, the country's
total primary gold ore resource was assessed to be 5018 million tonnes, with
654.74 tonnes of gold metal, of which 222.8 million tonnes (or 44% of the total)
were in Bihar and included 376 tonnes of metal.
• It was established even then that there are gold reserves in this area when a
team from Kolkata travelled to Jamui for surveying about 15 years ago.
• It is important to note that the South African Gold Mines, or gold mines, are
thought to be the oldest and deepest.
