MBTI
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can be used to discern between people with

various psychological preferences. MBTI measures how people see the world and

decide through their experience (Yang, 2022). Two Americans, Isabel Briggs, and her

mother Kathrine Cook Briggs, collaborated to create the MBTI. They were motivated

to create personalities based on Carl Jung's theory 1. This is a tool that we may

employ to better understand how we interact with others and to help us improve as

individuals and as personalities.

There are four different personality types, according to Carl Jung, and each

one shows up in a person's behavior. Carl Jung identified four personality types:

extraversion (E) versus introversion (I), sensing (S) versus intuition (N), thinking (T)

versus feeling (F), and judging (J) versus perceiving (P). The indicator

operationalizes these preferences with a series of questions that indicate the

individual's propensity towards one end of a dipole in four different categories:

energy, perceiving, judging, and orientation (Woods & Hill., 2022). In light of this, Carl

Jung also identified eight psychological types that serve as the foundation for the

MBTI2.

1
Jung believed that archetypes are expressed in myths, religions, and other cultural phenomena and
play a key role in shaping the human psyche. Examples of archetypes include the hero, the mother,
the trickster, and the wise old man.
2
 Extraverted sensation / Introverted sensation; Extraverted intuition / Introverted intuition;
Extraverted thinking / Introverted thinking; and Extraverted feeling / Introverted feeling.
