TOPIC Family and Alphabets
DAY 1
OBJECTIVE Students will be able to recognise and write alphabets A to R.
PREAMBLE Teacher greets students and asks students to greet each other.
FIXED PHRASES
I am Rani. I am eight years old. I like to eat apples
How are you? I am fine, thank you.
What is your name? (Students ask each other and reply).
PRESENTATION 1. Teacher shows students the alphabet cards (A to R) one by one.
& ACTIVITY Students repeat after teacher.
2. Teacher shows students one object (with the word written below)
for each alphabet.
3. Students identify alphabets in groups as teacher shows the cards
from A to U.
4. Students identify the object and word as teacher shows.
5. Students can spell the words.
6. Students can sing the alphabet song.

VOCABULARY Ant, bat, cat, book, cake, desk, egg, fish, girl, house, ink, jug, kite,
lamp, mother, nose, orange, pin, queen, rice
DAY 2

What is your name? (Students ask each other and reply).
PRESENTATION 1. Teacher shows students the alphabet cards (A to Z) at random.
& ACTIVITY Students identify the alphabets.
2. Teacher shows students a family picture and identifies: Mother,
Father, Brother, Sister, Grandfather and Grandmother.
3. Students repeat after teacher. Students can show their own
family photograph and identify the members in their family.
4. Students can sing a song.
VOCABULARY Ant, bat, cat, book, cake, desk, egg, fish, girl, house, ink, jug, kite,
lamp, mother, nose, orange, pin, queen, rice, sun, television,
umbrella, van, watch, x-ray, yacht, zebra

NOTE 1. Vocabulary and number of new phrases and sentences
introduced will depend on the level of the students in your group.
2. Encourage students to write the introduced content in a book and
to practise every day.
