Procedure of the activity:
Step 1 Tell students that they are going to find out about a game played by Nam
and Mai. Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures.
Step 2 Point to each picture and ask questions in English:
a) Who can you see? (Mai and Nam) Where are they? (school) What
are they doing? (playing a game)
b) What is Nam thinking about? (a doctor) What is Mai thinking
about? (a hospital)
c) What is Mai thinking about? (a worker) What is Nam thinking
about? (a factory)
d) What is Nam thinking about? (a farmer) What is Mai thinking
about? (a field)
Ask students to say if they know what the game is (a jobs game – one
person says a job, the other says where he / she works)
Step 3 Play the recording. Students listen and read / look at the pictures in the
book.
Step 4 Read the dialogue aloud and ask students to say what the sentences mean.
If they are not sure, ask them to guess. If they can’t guess, provide the
meaning. Make sure that they understand the TL: Where does he / she
work? 🡪 in a field, in a factory, in a hospital
Step 5 Play the recording again (or read the dialogue aloud). Pause after each part
of the dialogue and ask students to repeat it as a whole class. Correct any
problems with pronunciation.

of the dialogue and ask different students (individuals or pairs / groups) to
repeat it. Correct any problems with pronunciation of TL: structure, words
Step 7 Ask 2-3 pairs to come to the front of the class and role-play the dialogue.

in……
