MODULE 8

- Is a kind of governance theory which puts emphasis on
democratic engagement through deliberative practices.
- It also seeks to deepen citizen participation in all the different
governmental processes by examining the conventions and
practices of the traditional view which hinders the realization
of a true participatory democracy.
- Are those that deal with issues related to human rights.
- concerns planning, budgeting, monitoring and accountability
of social, and economic development policies and programs.
- Efficiency? Legitimacy? Democracy?

- Influence the type/range of services or treatments on offer
- Build or strengthen partnerships between publics, providers
and bureaucrats in shaping & implementing health policies
- Encourage more active citizenship
- is a government policy that gives all citizens equal access to
public services, funds and democratic rights and the ability to
represent in government.
- Every person has the right to nationality or citizenship and
one cannot be prevented from changing it.
The following are citizens of the Philippines:
- Those who are citizens of the Philippines at the time of the adoption of this
Constitution;
- Those whose fathers or mothers are citizens of the Philippines;
- Those born before January 17, 1973, of Filipino mothers, who elect Philippine
citizenship upon reaching the age of majority; and
- Those who are naturalized in accordance with law.
- Natural born citizens are those who are citizens of the
Philippines from birth without having to perform any act to
acquire or perfect their Philippine citizenship. Those who
elect Philippine citizenship in accordance with paragraph 3,
section 1 hereof shall be deemed natural-born citizens.
- Philippine citizenship may be lost or reacquired in the manner
provided by law.
- Citizens of the Philippines who marry aliens shall retain their
citizenship, unless by their act or omission they are deemed,
under the law, to have renounced it.
- Dual allegiance of citizens is inimical to the national interest
and shall be dealt with by law.
- The definition of social media is the use of web-based and mobile
technologies to turn communication into an interactive dialogue.
Social networking, on the other hand, is a social structure with
people who are joined by a common interest.
- Are broad alliances of people who are connected through their
shared interest in social change.
- Can advocate for a particular social change, but they can also
organize to oppose a social change that is being advocated by
another entity.
- Are designed to either bring about or prevent societal changes.
REACTIONARY - These people desire to turn back changes that have
occurred and return to an earlier time. An example might be the KKK,
they oppose the rights that minorities have been given.

CONSERVATIVE - These people work to prevent changes from taking


place. Example: the movement to ensure that marriage remains legal
between one man and one woman only
ESCAPIST/RETREATIST- People who belong to this type of movement
“dropout” of society by isolating themselves. Such groups could be
religious cults or survivalist militias.

ASSIMILATIONIST - This movement is designed to help minority


groups become assimilated or accepted into society. The Civil Rights
movement or Women’s Lib are examples. People in these
movements ask: “Why do you treat us differently. We are the same
as you”.
PLURALIST - Rather than seeking assimilation, Pluralists seek
acceptance without claiming to be the same as the majority. For
example, the Gay Rights movement. Members of a pluralist
movement say there are more than one way to live (plural). They
might say, “Yes we are different. Why should you care?”
EXPRESSIVE - Rather than be specific about their goals, an
expressive movement tries to influence how people think and
then let them decide how to act. Example: Commit a random
act of kindness.
ALTERNATIVE - Seek to get people to change their lifestyle.
An example is the 10,000 man movement or the Million Man
March.

REDEMPTIVE - Attempt to get people to make life altering


changes. Example: AA
