plants, the AP food safety
department would take up a
special drive across the
state to identify plants
without BIS certification
and shut them down.
A section of those running

moved the High Court
recently to complain about
the presence of such plants
and sought action.

Though the district collec-
tors and revenue officials
are expected to keep a tab
on such plants under Sec-
tion 133 of CrPC and under
norms of Food Safety and
Standards Act, 2006, there
is no close monitoring of th-
eir operations. Corruption
is another problem.
State food safety nodal
officer Poornachandra Rao
said, “Based on direction
from the High Court, we
will be taking up a special
drive against the unautho-
rised units.” On the other
hand, sale of purified water
in cans without any seal is
allowed and all the norms
are applicable for sale of
purified water in sealed and
labelled containers.

try renewable H-1B visas, a
significant decision that
would help thousands of
Indian professionals staying
in the country to continue
with their jobs without the
hassle of travelling overseas
for the renewal of their work
visas.
This is part of the people-to-
people initiative, a senior
administration official said
ahead of the bilateral meeting
between Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and President
Joe Biden at the White House
here on Thursday.
The much-sought-after H-1B
visa is a non-immigrant visa
that allows US companies to
employ foreign workers in spe-
ciality occupations that
require theoretical or techni-
cal expertise. Technology com-
panies depend on it to hire
tens of thousands of employ-
ees each year from countries
like India and China.
“The second thing that we’re
doing is the United States

to launch a pilot to adjudicate
