CHAPTER-V

FINDINGS, INTERPRETATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

5.1. Introduction

The present study is conducted on a sample of 200 school Teachers in kanyakumari


District. An Teacher Values Inventory and Socio Emotional Climate were prepared to collect
the data. Statistical techniques like Mean, Standard deviation, test, f- test, percentage analysis
and correlation were used to analysis the data. Computer was employed for the purpose of
analysis.

3.2. Title of the Problem

A STUDY ON THE TEACHER VALUES AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL CLIMATE OF


THE CLASSROOM.

5.3. Objectives

1. To find out the level of teacher values and socio-emotional climate of the classroom.

2. To find out whether there is any significant difference between the teacher values of
male and female teachers.

3. To find out whether there is any significant values of rural and urban school teachers.

4. To find out whether there is any significant difference among the teacher values of
school teachers with respect to their age.

5. To find out whether there is any significant difference among the teacher values of
teachers with respect to the type of school.

married and unmarried school teachers:

1. There is no significant difference between the teacher values of male and female
teachers.

2. There is no significant difference between the teacher values of rural and urban school
teachers.

respect to their age

4. There is no significant difference among the teacher values of teachers with respect to
the type of school.
5. There is no significant difference between the teacher values of married and
unmarried school teachers.

6. There is no significant difference among the teacher values of school teachers with
respect to their number of children.

teachers.

8. There is no significant difference among the teacher values of school teachers with
respect to their educational qualification.

5.5. FINDINGS FROM OBJECTIVES

Only 32% teachers have high socio emotional climate 46.5% teachers have average
socio emotional climate 21.5% teachers have low socio emotional climate.

Only 37.5% Male teachers have high socio emotional climate. 56,25% male teachers
have average socio emotional climate. 6.25% male teachers have low socio emotional
climate.

Only 29.41% female teachers have high socio emotional climate. 41.91% female
teachers have average socio emotional climate, 28.67% female teachers have low socio
emotional climate.

Only 30% teachers age of 25 have high socio emotional climate. Only 60% teachers
age of below 25 have average socio emotional climate. Only 10% teachers age of below 25
have low socio emotional climate.

Only 32.25% teachers age of 25-35 have high socio emotional climate. Only 43.01%
teachers age of 25-35 have average socio emotional climate. Only 24.73% teachers age of 25-
35 have low socio emotional climate.

Only 31.95% teachers age of above 35 have high socio emotional climate. Only
48.45% teachers age of above 35 have average socio emotional climate Only 19.58%
teachers age of above 35 have low socio emotional climate.

In Locality of the school Only 29.92% rural teachers have high socio emotional
climate Only 44.88% rural teachers have average socio emotional climate only 25.19% rural
teachers have low socio emotional climate.

In Locality of the school only 35.61% urban teachers have high socio emotional
climate. Only 49.31% urban teachers have average socio emotional climate Only 15.06%
urban teachers have low socio emotional climate

In Type of school only 36.04% aided teachers have high socio emotional climate Only
46.51% aided teachers have average socio emotional climate. Only 17.44 % aided teachers
have low socio emotional climate.

In type of school only 32.14% private teachers have high socio emotional climate
Only 50,0% private teachers have average socio emotional climate. Only 17.85% private
teachers have low socio emotional climate.

In type of school only 20.0% Govt teachers have high socio emotional climate. Only
36.66% Govt teachers have average socio emotional climate Only 43.33% Govt teachers
have low socio emotional climate.
Only 31.42% married teachers have high socio emotional climate. Only 45.14%
married teacher have average socio emotional climate. Only 23.42% married teachers have
low socio emotional climate.

Only 36% unmarried teachers have high socio emotional climate only 56% unmarried
teachers have average socio emotional climate. Only 8% unmarried teachers have low socio
emotional climate.

Only 41.93% school teachers no children have high socio emotional climate. Only
45.16% school teachers no children have average socio emotional climate only 12.90%
school teachers no children have low socio emotional climate Only 38.46% school teachers
have I children have high socio emotional climate. Only 46.15% school teachers have I
children have average socio emotional are only 15.38% school teachers have 1 children have
low socio emotional.

Only 31.76% school teachers have 2 children have high socio emotional climate only
47.05% school teachers have average socio emotional climate. Only 21.17% school teachers
have 2 children have low socio emotional climate.

Only 24.13% school teachers have above 2 children have high socio emotional
climate Only 46.55 school teachers have above 2 children have average socio emotional
climate Only 29,31% school teachers have above 2 children have low socio emotional
climate.

In the type of only 33.73% single family school teachers have high socio emotional
climate. Only 46.98% single family school teachers have average socio emotional climate.
Only 19.27% single family school teachers have low socio emotional climate.

In the type family only 30.76% joint family school teachers have high socio emotional
climate. Only 46.15% joint family school teachers have average socio emotional climate.
Only 23.07% joint family school teachers have low socio emotional climate.

In the educational qualification of TTC only 20% School teachers have high socio
emotional climate only 80% school teachers have average socio emotional climate only 0%
school teachers have.

In the educational qualification of UG school teachers only 30.86% have high socio
emotional climate. Only 49.38% UG school teachers have average socio emotional climate
have low socio emotional climate

In the educational qualification only 29.11% PG school teachers have high al climate
have average socio emotional climate Only 27 84% PG school teachers have low socio
emotional climate In the educational qualification only 44,11% M Phil school teachers have
high socio emotional climate have average socio emotional climate, Only 41.174M phil
school teachers have low socio emotional climate. Only 14.70% M.phil school teachers have

Only 43,75% school teachers whose work experience below 1 year have high socio
emotional climate. Only 56.25%, school teachers whose work experience below 1 year have
average socio emotional climate. Only 0% school teachers whose work experience below I
year have low socio emotional climate

Only 28.30% school teachers whose work experience below 1-3 year have high socio
emotional climate. Only 44.65% school teachers whose work experience below 1-3 year have
average socio emotional climate. Only 27.04% school teachers whose work experience below
1-3 year have low socio emotional climate.

Only 48% school teachers whose work experience below 3 year have high socio
emotional climate. Only 52% school teachers whose work experience below 3 year have
average socio emotional climate. Only 0% school teachers whose work experience below 3
year have low socio emotional climate.

Only 26-41% school teachers whose annual income helow 1 lakh have high motional
climate. Only 50.94% school teachers whone annual income below 1 n have average socio
emotional climate Only 22 64% school teachers whole lcone below I lakh have low socio
emotional climate

Only 25.86% school teachers whose annual income below 11akh-2 lakh have high
socio emotional climate. Only 49.13% school teachers whose annual income below 1 lakh-2
lakh have average socio emotional climate. Only 25% school teachers whose annual income
below 1 lakh-2 lakh have low socio emotional climate.

Only 64.51% school teachers whose annual income below 2 lakh have high
emotional climate. Only 29.03% school teachers whose annual income below 2 th have
average socio emotional climate. Only 6.45% school teachers whose annual income below 2
lakh have low socio emotional climate.

Only 17.64% school teachers whose teaching level primary have high socio emotional
climate. Only 32.35% school teachers whose teaching level primary have average socio
emotional climate. Only 50% school teachers whose teaching level primary have low socio
emotional climate.

Only 29.72% school teachers whose teaching level middle have high socio emotional
climate. Only 70.27% school teachers whose teaching level middle have average socio
emotional climate. Only 0% school teachers whose teaching level fiddle have low socio
emotional climate.
Only 29.48% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have high socio
emotional climate. Only 46.15% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have
average so emotional climate.

Only 24.35% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have socio emotional
climate Only 47,05% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have high socio
emotional climate Only 39,21% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have average
socio emotional climate. Only 13.72% school teachers whose teaching level secondary have
low socio emotional climate.

5.6 FINDINGS FROM HYPOTHESES

1. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of male and
female school teachers.

2. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their age.

3. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of rural and urhan
school teachers.

4. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their type of school .

5. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of married and
unmarried school teachers.

6. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their number of children.

7. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of single and
joint family of school teachers.

8. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teacher based
on their educational qualification.

9. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their work experience.

10. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their annual income.

11. There is significant difference between the socio emotional climate of teachers based
on their teaching level.

5.7. INTERPRETATION OF THE STUDY


In theoretical value most of the teachers have first preference in any branch of fine
arts, wealth and modern trends in art and foundation of the teachers have least preference in
education job oriented. In economic value most of the teachers have first preference in pure
science of the teachers have others and social service league. In aesthetic value most of the
teachers have first preference in great improvements is market conditions and achievements
in the field of arts or music of the teachers have least preference devotional music singing
club. In social value most of the teachers have first preference in help the helpless people and
have least preference in ability to reason and it activity works for the advancement of various
religions. In political value most of the teachers have first preference in invest it in some
business of the teachers have least preference in sense of beauty. In religious value most of
the teachers have first preference understanding of and love for the tents of your faith of the
teachers have least preference more about your religion and political consciousness

Male teachers have more teacher values and socio emotional climate than the female
teachers This is because normally male have more their own values. Also page of male are
less than female so they have low frustration then the male. Urban teachers have more
teachers values and socio emotional climate then the rural teachers. This is because urban life
is a relaxed life and it has less commitment. Aided school teachers have more socio
emotional climate and teachers values than the other. This is because in aided schools the
management do not show much relaxation and more restriction.

Unmarried teachers have more socio emotional climate than the married. This is
because unmarried teachers have no commitment towards other work, and they family
concentrate on teaching.

Nuclear family teachers have more socio emotional climate and teacher values then
the others. This is because nuclear family has less commitment than the other.

5.8. CONCLUSION

Teacher values and socio emotional climate of teachers are studied. It is found that
the teacher are not giving much importance to the values and also socio emotional climate of
the teachers is not at good connection. Teachers are falling different problems from the
society schools and students. So they have no time to maintain the values. The high school
teachers do not have much frustration when comparing the teachers of other level. So this
socio emotional climate and values are good when comparing the other levels. The socio
emotional climate and teacher values must be good to maintain good education.

5.9.RECOMMENDATION OF THE SCHOOL TEACHERS

1. In service programs should be conducted for the teacher to improve the teaching
ability.

2. Teachers should be given sufficient training for proper understanding of the problems
of school teachers.
3. To improve the infra structural facilities like computers, laboratory projectors of the
schools.

4. Teachers ration should be in a minimum level.

5. Cordial relations between head of the institution and students.

6. Teacher should take teaching profession as a service not a job.

7. There should be sufficient and efficient teacher for all subjects and classes.

5.10. SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

In the light of the present study the following suggestion for the further research are given.

1. The present study may be repeated for the large sample.

2. A comparative study of teacher values and socio-emotional climate may be studied.

3. The present study may be conducted in other state.
