TASK BASED LANGUAGE LEARNING

INTRODUCTION :

learning is very low among the students as well as the teachers. The practice of teaching
is not related to the current scenario. Though we are in the post independence we simply
depends upon the “received knowledge” which has been said by our ancestors we still doesn’t
get updated. We follow the Macaulay educational system of 1835 even after 60 years of
political independence it is a great draw back. We doesn’t consider about own situation. We
simply follow what they said. Most teachers try to cover only the syllabus. And the students
enroll themselves only for the purpose of degree not for their knowledge. There is no emotional
involvement it is simply mechanical the objective of learning is lagging in a great sense here.
Change is law of nature as our season change, habitat change, everything change but we doesn’t
concentrate about the methodology of teaching as well as learning. The education system has
not changed but we keep on blaming about the quality of education. This paper examines the
task based learning which is prior to discuss in this current situation.

Practical based learning :

Practical based learning is where the students can observe and manipulate
and demonstrate the real objects. It helps to witness the gist of the study. Teaching and
learning based on practical motivates pupil. Practical based learning includes laboratory tests,
site visits, tours etc. Getting theoretical knowledge is not fulfilled until it is applied practically.
Schools should inculcate the value of practical knowledge from their childhood itself because
it is the only thing which helps them when they complete their higher studies. The practical
knowledge only helps them to sustain them in this competitive world. It is better to do things in
hand than studying it theoretically. When we do something in hand it gives a clear experience
about the study. It leads to self study and perfection. It is a good change from monotonous
lecture method it is a great refreshment to the students who are keep practicing the traditional
methodology of learning. Practical learning is too know how the things actually works.

The students who posses the practical knowledge will be the best employers
and can stand unique among the seniors in their real life. The students who apply the theory
in their practical life will be the successfully person. It is prior that everyone should posses
knowledge to succeed in his or her life. But without the practical knowledge the theoretical
knowledge is simply waste. Practical based learning doesn’t needs to mugging up. Students
mostly fails to concentrate in theoretical knowledge as they takes time to mug up things
which is more irritative. If we learn things practically we do it with interest and we shall
retain the knowledge what we have learnt. The person should give 80% weight age tp
practical and 20% weight age to theory.

When we see our ancestors methodoly of learning they use very simple
practical techniques to teach which is more effective. They doesn’t have any books, notes etc..
they simply teach everything practically. The chance of knowing things is very interesting that
time. So it is prior to have practical knowledge. But we keep on concentrating in theory which
fetches marks. Is there any use of getting only marks without having any practical knowledge.
We should know the importance of practical knowledge and we should change the methodology
of teaching as well as learning for our upcoming development. If we follow our ancestor
methodoly there is more effective teaching concepts now the bookish knowledge only we are
inculcating to the students for getting more marks.

CHALK AND TALK METHOD:

Chalk and method is a monologue presentation has made up with the

drawing in the method of teaching and the drawing is drawn by a chalk or crayon on the board.
This method majorly focused in the blackboard and also the lecturer speaks. It is the method for
presenting lectures and talk’s .The presenter never wants to lose the attention of the viewer. The
presenter always maintains regular eye contact with the viewers. Voice of the presenter need to
be clearly audible to everyone. Otherwise the audience will easily get bored and they cannot
follow the presenter.

ADVANTAGES:

In the teaching method the focus of approach is an average student and it

is most common method of instructions. There many methods of instructions, among in the chalk
and talk is most acceptable.
DISADVANTAGES:

A teacher should not depend only on lecture type but also the teacher
should see that, their students are participating and all range students gets engaged in class.

EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES:

Instructional techniques approach the teacher to engage the students in the

learning process actively. Some of these strategies made a the teachers instruction as they work
to meet specific learning objectives and it ensure that students are equipped with the tools they
need to be successful. Teachers have to utilize a variety of instructional strategies as opposed to
one or two. These are some of popular effective instructional techniques, cloze reading,
cooperative learning, hands-on activities, scaffolding, group instruction, self assessment,
thematic instruction, and word walls.

SOME WAYS TO BOOST STUDENT LEARNING:

1. This instructional strategies provides delivery mechanism

for presenting great content. How you presents the content is more important than what you
present.

2. Instructional strategies make the teaching and learning to

be in a fun method. The majority of students are interested to learn the things by activities.

CONCLUSION:

In our country the teaching method is little more badly than comparing to
other countries. Practical method teaching helps the upcoming generation to learn more
effectively.
