Oil Interceptors
 Usually here in PH, Only large establishments with Restaurant facilities have grease
traps on each of their kitchen sinks, that drains toward Oil interceptor within its lot,
then drains to the public storm drain which leads toward a community Sewage
Treatment Plant before draining to the local river or Manila Bay.
 Sadly oil interceptors here are only provided for runoff collection from buildings only.
Seldom that open spaces are provided with oil interceptors and parking areas. It will be
great if your best practices can be applied here.
 The Department of Public Works and Highways constructed Water Treatment Facilities
(WTF) funded by the World Bank under the National Sewerage and Septage
Management Program. All city effluents are being directed to these WTFs before
discharging to rivers or the sea.
2. Parking structure’s drains discharge network–
 Here in the PH, they are discharged to the public storm drain.
3. ROW Drainage collection
 Here’s a typical drainage canal detail I got from our department of public works and
highways.

 The catchbasin cover serves as the manholes. These are detachable

 There are some areas with inlets that look like these such as in Makati CBD and
Bonifacio Global City

 Our inlets do not usually contain a maintenance basket.
4. Box Drains

 Usually inlets are directly above the covered canal (box drains)
 Our box drains are usually along the sidewalks and seldom along the carriageways

5. Detention Tanks
 Not yet a common practice but nowadays PH urban planners recommend these to delay
street flooding by catching the stormdrain.

6. Service Corridor
 We have ROW cross sections showing corridor sizes for each utility but – conceptual
only. These are only being implemented now on new developments such as projects by
the Bases Conversion and Development Authority of PH.
 Embarrassingly, these are the only cross sections that we have
