Dilemma and Foundation of Morality
 Dilemma
o A difficult situation in which an individual is confronted to chose between two or more
alternative actions (equally undesirable) to resolve the problem
 May choices pero undesirable
o TYPES OF DILEMMA
 Classic Dilemma
There are conflicting criteria for the same behavior

EXAMPLE:
 Magpiprito ka ng isda tapos pipili ka between kawali or mantika. Isa lang
ang pede. IMPORTANT ANG ISA KASI IMPORTANT RIN ANG ISA
 Mahirap na mamili kasi both is important
 Temporal Dilemma
 Occurs with an activity which is complex enough to be a work process or a
project
 There are criteria dominant in the early part (SPEED) of the process that conflict
with the criteria that become dominant in a later point (ACCURACY)
 EXAMPLE:
 Accuracy Vs. Speed
 Gumawa ka ng angel's burger and madaming tao pumunta. Para
maservan mo lahat ng tao, binilisan mo (SPEED). Results to luto ang
 Bibilisan mo ba or accuracy?
 Sequential Dilemma
 Madaling solusyonan
 Solution is to sequence them appropriately (ano ang uunahin)
 EXAMPLE:
 Work vs. Home
 Magsasaing o magpapasa ng assignment @11:59? The solution is
pipili ka kung ano ang uunahin
 Unequal Dilemma
 Sometimes a person in authority will assert one side of a dilemma. Because of
the inequality, only one side of the dilemma receives attention
 EXAMPLE:
 Kelan magpaparty?
 May unequal status.

What is Moral Dilemma?
 Defined as any situation in which the person making the decision experiences a conflict between
the moral rightness of a decision, and the quality it produces.
 There may be two or more options, all of which is undesirable and only one could be chosen.

LEVELS OF MORAL DILEMMA
1. Personal Moral Dilemma
a. Situations in which an individual has a choice to be made between two options, neither of
which resolves the situation in an ethically acceptable fashion
b. Can provide no satisfactory outcome
c. Ikaw magdedecide personally
d. EXAMPLE:
i. Pag
pinili mo si misis, patay si baby.
ii. Kunyare magkapatid si A and B. Si B, may kidney failure. The only kidney for him is
kidney of A. Will A give his kidney to B?
1. Option 1: to give kidney, will cause failed kidney too
2. Option 2: don’t give, will cause death to B.
2. Organizational Moral Dilemma
a. Nangyayari sa loob ng isang organization
b. Withholds a certain standard or rules to follow.
c. Follow the rules inside the organization
d. EXAMPLE:
i. Sexual harassment e kelangan ireport.
2. Option 2: ignore, d sumunod sa rules

3. Systemic Moral Dilemma
a. Sistemang pangmalawak
b. Result in harm to another person
c. Ikaw and buong mundo or isang bansa (mas malawak)
d. EXAMPLE
i. Say yes to death penalty or no
1. If yes, may abuse the law
2. If no, no fear to law
ii. Online Registration of Vaxx, yes or no
1. If yes, convenient d na pipila, pero may mga taong no access sa internet
2. If no, inconvenient and pipila pa, pero accessible to all.
