Rules for the network installation

In order to be able to follow up the operating sequence of your machine from an office PC, you have to
install a network between the two computers or integrate the machine PC into an existing network. For
this purpose you have to carry out the following steps in succession:

1. Reflections for the installation of the network:

Please check whether you want to make a direct connection from the machine to the office PC or
whether the machine PC is to be connected to an existing network.
Please check whether you want to use DHCP or assign fixed IP addresses (DHCP automatically
assigns IP addresses).

2. Cabling:
Please follow the relevant regulations for Ethernet networks.
Please particularly pay attention to the fact that the cable length within one segment mustn't
exceed 100 m – with interferences by your machines it even has to be considerably shorter.
Please use a multiple-shielded CAT7 cable.
Install a network socket in the switch cabinet directly near the PC and prepare a short Patch cable
for the connection of the PC to the network socket.
If the connection to the office PC (Client) is made via a HUB/SWITCH with 10/100 MBit, the Patch
cable mustn't be crossed. Use an uncrossed Patch cable.
If the connection is made directly from the machine to the office PC, you must use a crossed cable
(Cross over).

3. Installing the IP address:

a) If you use a DHCP: Connect the machine PC to the network and carry out the
network installation afterwards according to the enclosed
description „Network Installation of MAXI 5“.
b) If you don't use a DHCP: Do not connect the machine PC to the network before having
created the IP address according to the description „Network
Installation of MAXI 5“.

Important!
Each IP address must only exist once within the net .
The IP address of the machine PC must be out of the same address area as
that of the Client (office computer).

Example:
IP address of the machine PC: 192.168.0.1
IP address of the Client: 192.168.0.2 Address area

The IP-Address consists of 4 parts which are separated by a point. Each part must be a number
between 0 and 254. The first three parts signalise the address area. The last part is the
characteristic number of the computer.

4. Create the Hostname (computer name) according to the instructions „Network Installation of
MAXI 5“:
Assign an unambiguous name that doesn't exist yet in the net for the machine PC.

5. Network connection of the Client (office computer):

Carry out the network connection of your office computer as described in the instructions.
