Noun

Noun refers to people, places, things, ideas,


concepts, etc.
Nouns fall into two categories: common nouns and
proper nouns
Common nouns are general names for things, like
country and person . Proper nouns are specific names
for individual things, like Indonesia and John

Pronoun

Pronoun is used to refer to a noun/noun phrase

Example : John is a good boy. He gets up early in the


morning
In this sentence, pronoun He refers to John

Verb

Verb is a word or a combination of words that


indicates action or a state of being or condition. A
verb is the part of a sentence that tells us what the
subject performs
Verb is usually divided into three types, Infinitive (v1),
Simple Past (v2), Past Participle (v3). Example:
v1 : go, cook, come, hit
v2 : went, cooked, came, hit
v3 : gone, cooked, came, hit

Adverb

Adverb is a word that describes an adjective, a verb,


or another adverb
Examples:
I entered the room quietly. Quietly is describing
how you entered (verb) the room
A cheetah is always faster than a lion. Always is
describing how frequently a cheetah is faster
(adjective) than a lion.

Preposition

Preposition is a word that indicates the relationship


between a noun and the other words of a sentence
Example :
I am going to Jakarta
The present is inside the box

Conjunction

Conjunctions are used to join clauses, phrases, and


words together for constructing sentences.
Conjunctions make a link between/among words or
groups of words to other parts of the sentence and
show a relationship between/among them.
Example : The present is inside the box and under
the tree

Interjection

Interjection is a part of speech used to convey or


express sudden feelings and emotions. An interjection
is a kind of exclamation inserted into regular speech,
which means it is a brief and abrupt pause in speech
for expressing emotions
Examples :
Wow!
Oh my!

Comparative/Superlative

Comparative adjectives are used to compare


differences between the two objects.
Examples : more, bigger, taller
Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object
which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality.
Examples : most, biggest, tallest
