BULLETIN NO 2

EVENT FORMAT
The World Rogaining Championships is held as a 24-hour rogaining event in accordance with the
International Rules of Rogaining.

EXTRACT FROM THE IRF RULES


The Rules of Rogaining of the International Rogaining Federation are followed, with the exception of rules B1,
B15, B16, B17, B20, B29(b) and C16. The rules listed above are respectively replaced by the following
provisions.

B11:. A team shall consist of two or three members.

B151: All team members shall carry the SI card during the whole competition from start to finish. It will be
attached by organizers with a non-removable wristband.

B161(b): In order to gain points for a checkpoint, all members of a team shall punch their SI cards at the SI
station of that checkpoint within a time interval of 60 seconds.

B171: In the event of the electronic recording device (SI card) being lost or wristband being broken, the team
shall report to the event officials and return to the event office. Failure to do so shall result in disqualification
of the team. The organizers shall provide a replacement electronic recording device or wristband and the
team shall be admitted to continue the competition. Points shall be credited only for checkpoints visited after
the replacement.

B201: Whenever entering the hash house area during the competition, all team members shall punch the SI
station labelled “check-in”. Upon leaving the hash house area, all team members shall punch the SI station
labelled “check-out”.

B291(b): The SI station at each checkpoint will give light and sound feedback, indicating that the visit was
recorded. In case of stolen or broken SI station (there is no light/sound signal), a backup code shall be noted
at the margin of the competition map.

C161: A team’s score is determined on the basis of the reading of SI cards of all team members.

Further exceptions from the IRF Rules of Rogaining may be specified in Bulletin No 3.
ORGANIZERS

EVENT FORMAT
The World Rogaining Championships is held as a 24-hour rogaining event in accordance with the
International Rules of Rogaining. Accompanying 6-hour rogaine for general public and newcomers will be
held on Saturday, August 27.

EVENT CENTRE
Czech Republic, Ski-hotel Paprsek near Staré Město pod Sněžníkem, Olomouc region,

GPS: 50.2101400N, 16.9889456E

The event centre area with all WRC facilities including event campsite is located in an out-of-the-way place
around Ski-hotel Paprsek.

For the whole duration of the WRC event (Wednesday August 24 – Sunday August 28, 2022) the only access
road will be closed for all participants except for those few accommodated in the Paprsek hotel. All cars must
use organizer´s parking lot at Velké Vrbno, approx. 1.5 km beneath the Paprsek hotel. On Thursday August 25
between 15:00 and 20:00 free heavy luggage uphill transport from the parking lot to the event centre will be
provided by the WRC organizers. Nevertheless all participants will have to go up along the blue-marked
tourist path.

For the whole duration of the WRC event it is strictly forbidden to enter forest outside of any paths, of
course with an exception of the event itself or during the official WRC Map training.

PARTICIPANTS AND TEAMS


Number of entries is limited to 1,000 participants. Teams consist of 2 – 3 members only.

COVID-19 PROTECTIVE MEASURES


No anti-epidemic measures are currently effective in the Czech Republic.

COMPETITION CLASSES
• Men Open (MO) — men, no age restriction
• Women Open (WO) — women, no age restriction
• Mixed Open (XO) — at least one man and one woman, no age restriction
• Men Junior (MY) — men, all must be 23 years or younger
• Women Junior (WY) — women, all must be 23 years or younger
• Mixed Junior (XY) — at least one man and one woman, all must be 23 years or younger
• Men Veteran (MV) — men, all must be 40 years or older
• Women Veteran (WV) — women, all must be 40 years or older
• Mixed Veteran (XV) — at least one man and one woman, all must be 40 years or older
• Men Super Veteran (MSV) — men, all must be 55 years or older
• Women Super Veteran (WSV) — women, all must be 55 years or older
• Mixed Super Veteran (XSV) — at least one man and one woman, all must be 55 years or older
• Men Ultra Veteran (MUV) — men, all must be 65 years or older
• Women Ultra Veteran (WUV) — women, all must be 65 years or older
• Mixed Ultra Veteran (XUV) — at least one man and one woman, all must be 65 years or older

The deciding day for the age category determination is the date of the WRC event start, i.e.

• MO6 — 6-hour rogaine men, no age restriction
• WO6 — 6-hour rogaine women, no age restriction
• XO6 — 6-hour rogaine mixed, at least one man and one woman, no age restriction

RECOMMENDED TRANSPORT
Public transport to Staré Město pod Sněžníkem is fully recommended. The travel by train including several
train changes takes approx. the same time as travelling by car (e. g. 4 hours from Prague). On Thursday
August 25 the organizer´s transport from the railway station Staré Město to the parking lot at Velké Vrbno will
be provided. The service have to be booked via booking form. In the same way the after race transport from
Velké Vrbno to Staré Město on Saturday August 27 afternoon or Sunday August 28 morning will be organized.

Connections by train or bus can be found on the IDOS website, tickets can be bought there as well.

ORGANIZER´S TRANSPORT FROM PRAGUE – SKI RESORT PAPRSEK AND BACK

The WRC organizer provides transport from Prague to Velké Vrbno on Thursday August 25 and transport back
to Prague on Sunday August 28 morning. It is necessary to book a seat via booking form or contact e-mail:
transport@wrc2022.cz.

INDIVIDUAL TRANSPORT BY CAR & PARKING

If you plan travelling by car, take into consideration that for the entire duration of the event you will have to
leave it at the organizer´s parking lot at Velké Vrbno, lower part of the Paprsek Skiareal, GPS: N 50°12.00598',
E 16°59.33042'.

Route from Prague airport (240 km): highway D11 (exit 84) highway D35 (exit 142), road I/36 via Holice,
Borohrádek, road I/11 via Žamberk, road II/312 via Králíky, Hanušovice, road II/446 - Velké Vrbno

Route from Ostrava airport (105 km): highway’s D48, D1, D35 to Olomouc and Mohelnice, road I/44 via Zábřeh,
road II/369 to Hanušovice, road II/446 to Staré Město - Velké Vrbno

ACCOMMODATION
• Camping (own tents) at the event centre Wednesday, August 24, 3 PM – Sunday, August 28, 1 PM.

• Other hotels close to the event centre will be recommended on the event website

TERRAIN
Hilly terrain of Rychleby Mountains and Kralicky Sneznik Mountains along the Czech/Polish border, elevation
from 500 to 1424 m above sea level covered by mixed (coniferous and broad-leaved) forest with various
levels of passability, many deep valleys and numerous water streams. Many forest tracks, paths and trails.

Special rogaining map, scale 1:30 000, contour interval 10 m, updated in spring 2022.

CLIMATE AND TYPICAL WEATHER

Central European Climate. During summer you can expect warm sunny weather, daytime temperatures 20-
25°С. Medium probability of rain. With regard to the elevation and mountain character of the event area
night-time temperatures below zero may occur.
WILDLIFE

Competitors may encounter deer, roe deer and fox. Other wild animals are seen rarely, but these include wild
boar, badger... The only venomous snake in the race area is viper/adder, and it is encountered rarely. Its bite
is not life-threatening, but still requires immediate medical attention and application of anti-venom.

ENTRIES
Registration
• Team size is restricted to 2 or 3 members
• Entry applications will be taken via online entry form
• Registered participants will be invited via email to confirm their entry. Following the invitation, they
will have 3 weeks to pay.

ENTRY FEE (PER COMPETITOR)

• The entry fee is 80, - € per person (registration up to May 31, 2022)
• The entry fee is 95, - € per person (registration from June 1, 2022)

The fee covers the costs of organizing and setting up the event, maps, SI card rental, 3-day camping and
parking, catering during the race, equipment and property rental, trophies and awards, the IRF levy (9, -
€/entrant) and municipal fees.

6-HOUR ROGAINE ENTRY FEE (PER COMPETITOR)

• 30, - € per person (registration and payment up to June 30, 2022)


• 40, - € per person (registration and payment after June 30, 2022)

The fee covers the costs of organizing and setting up the event, maps, SI card rental, 2-day camping and
parking, equipment and property rental, trophies and awards, municipal fees and after event meal.

WITHDRAWALS AND TEAM CHANGES

• A team withdrawing from June 1 to June 30, 2022 will be reimbursed 50 %


• A team withdrawing from July 1 to July 31, 2022 will be reimbursed 25 %
• After July 31, 2022 there will be no refund

Team member may be substituted for free; addition of the third team member is possible only in case the
participant number cap is not exceeded.

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS AND SPECTATORS

Accompanying persons and spectators (over 6 years of age) staying at the event centre shall pay a fee 30, -
€, which includes: 3-day camping and parking, catering at the hash house during the race, event map
(delivered after the finish). Please make registration for accompanying person via on-line registration form.

OTHER OFFERS

In the next few days order of souvenir WRC T-shirt, magnetic compasses for northern hemisphere or special
headlamps produced by Czech firm Lucifer will be offered on the WRC website.
TRAINING POSSIBILITIES AND RELATED EVENTS
1) Saturday June 25 – Sunday June 26, 2022 – Czech Rogaining Championships

2) July 1–3, 2022 – 3-day O-event “Cena střední Moravy“

3) Further O-event you can plan using the Czech O- event calendar.

4) Wednesday August 24 – Thursday August 25, 2022 – WRC Map training – familiarization with the WRC
2022 terrain.

announced in the Bulletin # 3.

EMBARGOED AREA

PUNCHING SYSTEM
Electronic punching system SportIdent (Air+ mode) will be used. During the race every competitor has to run
with one SI card (provided by the organizers at the registration desk).
