ABSTRACT

This study explores the lived experiences of college working students in

Talisay City, Cebu. The purpose of this study is to investigate the struggles and

problems of working while studying. In this study, a qualitative study is used. The

researchers chose ten college working students from Talisay City, Cebu as the

participant to be interviewed. 6 themes were gathered to the lived experiences of

college working students: (1) Being patient and understanding towards customers;

(2) Managing time for work and studies; (3) Choosing to work while studying to

have own income; (4) Does well in school despite working as fast food crew; (5)

Studying to have a brighter future; (6) Salary is enough to support self working;

The findings showed that choosing to work while studying to have own income is

that it may also give them the opportunity to learn in working while going to school.

It can help them understand how to manage their responsibilities they can also

add their work history and academic which may improve their chances of finding a

position in industry. The last research question intended to ask the participants

their suggestions and recommendations for students who have similar condition.

Among the suggestions are the students who decide to work while studying must

be first of all committed and disciplined.
