Use of Covid-19 beds in private hospitals rises amid case hike

Summary:

The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAPi) reported that the number of
patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) admitted in most private hospitals has
increased by 20-50% in the past two to three days. The country logged 1,088 cases on
Tuesday, bringing the total tally to 4,118,013 with 15,229 active cases. But in a televised
public briefing, President Dr. Jose de Grano said Covid-19 cases labelled "coincidental
COVID" due to different health issues. Covid-19 infections are seen rising in certain areas
such as Cavite, Laguna, Aklan and the Davao region. The Department of Health officer-
in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed the increase of cases in Aklan as its positivity
rate had reached 59.7 percent for the week of May 8-14. Self-protection like wearing
face masks is still required.
Reaction:

The covid 19 is harmful and may quickly transmit the disease, so be cautious, especially
if a patient is being treated in the hospital. There is no need to be panic because the
DOH is keeping track of the amount of persons who test positive for covid, which is not
alarming. Providing a secure area for patients is one of the finest things to do since it
allows them to find peace or comfort. Additionally, other families may be granted the
ability to see their loved one in another hospital, which will help to reinforce it. So let us
continue to observe our city's guidelines and use face masks to help minimize the
number of covid cases in our nation.
