SUBJECT: ISSUES RELATED TO THE COACHES ATTACHED WITH REHMAN BABA EXPRESS.

It is intimated that since the mid of April 2023 the weather of this region (ROH to KC in particular)
became hot and since then the condition of attached AC Business and AC Standard coaches became
problematic. The AC Coaches attached with Rehman Baba Express are the cause of frequent passenger
complaints; the cooling in these coaches is below satisfactory.
The following coaches were repeatedly cause of complaint due to poor cooling in them.

The concerned officials and officers of P.R. were informed about the issues related to these coaches time
to time for the rectification, However, Issues related to AC Coaches are un resolved till date.

Two AC Attendants of FSLD Coaches and One in AC Attendant of ACB are always on board, According to
them the AC of 47UP always start working after ROH and AC of 48DN are always working good before reaching
ROH or before crossing NWS. As mentioned above the weather of Sindh Region is extremely hot these days and
unfit coaches of AC; stops working in this region, Only thing which these onboard AC attendants can do is to
message HDR and ROH to apply water on the units, which temporarily improves the cooling of the coaches but it
is not the permanent solution. Further these AC attendant does not issue any certificate regarding the issues as
they are later on taken up for issuing the certificates.
Impact on Passengers:
Passengers travelling in AC class coaches are expecting to have good services, cleanliness and cooling
during their travel against the heavy fare amount they pay for the tickets. However, due to issues highlighted
above, these passengers are unsatisfied with the Cooling and face suffocation in these trains as these coaches are
completely closed and have no cooling in them, Resultantly these passengers protests during the travel, fight and
threaten Ticket checking staff and demand refund, some of the passengers threaten to take legal action against
PRACS and Pakistan Railways for the trauma they were being through. PRACS is already offering concessional
fare to AC class passengers, and for the good cleanliness appointed several cleaners and technical staff to satisfy
these travelling passengers and build a positive image of PRACS and Pakistan Railways. But the basic
requirement of Cooling is not up to the mark and frequently same un fit coaches and Power Plants are being
attached from KC, FSLD & PSC with minor repairs and watering. These unsatisfied passengers are diverting to
Road travel and PRACS is suffering heavy loss and losing image and trust from travelling passengers. At KC it is
now routine to detach AC coaches from the rake of 48DN and provided to other trains, due to which the
maintained coaches are being allotted to other trains and 47UP is usually running with unfit AC coaches.

It is requested that Pakistan Railways authorites may kindly be requested to provide new AC standard
coaches to PRACS, and compensate PRACS for the loss of revenue from unsatisfied passengers and bad image
created due to unfit AC coaches being attached.
