Foreword

I S0 (the I nternational Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of

national standards insti tu tes (I S0 m em ber bodies). The work of developing I nter-

national Standards is carried out throu g h I S0 technical commi ttees. Every mem ber

body interested in a su bj ect for which a technical committee has been set up has the

rig ht to be represented on that comm ittee. I nternational organizations, governmental

and non-governmental, in liaison with I SO, also take part in the work.

Draft I nternational Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to

the mem ber bodies for approval before their acceptance as I nternational Standards by

the I S0 Council.

I nternational Standard I S0 4805 was developed by Technical Committee I SO/TC 443,

Laboratory glassware and related apparatu s, and was circulated to the mem ber bodies

in September 1 979.

I t has been approved by the m em ber bodies of the following countries :

Australia Hungary Poland

Brazil I taly Romania

Canada Korea, Rep. of Sou th Africa, Rep. of

France Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Spain

Germany, F. R. N etherlands USSR

No mem ber body expressed disapproval of the docu men t.

represent the case of highly concentrated alcohol-water mixtures at temperatures between 20 and 40 OC, the density of which, formally, corresponds
to alcohol contents above 1 00 %.
