What do RAN , Physical layer and Logical Layer mean ? Post

RAN : Radio Access Network and consists of two layes ( Logical and Physical )
Physical Layer : Consistes of Base Transceiver Station device “ BTS “ and Base Station Controller “ BSC “ and they
are communicating togther through Transport Network
BTS Node <>  Transport Network  <>  BSC Node
Logical  Layer : Consistes of Base Transceiver Station “ BTS “  implemented device include eGBTS , GBTS ,
NodeB,eNodeB and gNodeB and Base Station Controller “ BSC “ and they are communicating togther
through interface Protocol
GBTS , eGBTS , NodeB, eNodeB and gNodeB <>  interface Protocol  <>  BSC Node / RNC Node

The RAN logical layer is classified into the 5G RAN, GBSS, UTRAN and E-UTRAN according to protocols used by
each network.
Logical functions of base station controllers include GBSC
GBSS : GSM base station system,
UTRAN : Universal terrestrial radio access network,
E-UTRAN : Evolved universal terrestrial radio access network.

@WalidNawar_PDAC_MVE very helpful thanks for sharing,

As we have two main parts IPRAN & IP CORE, what will be the location of BSC, RNC & EPC like where it will be
connected in IPRAN or with IP CORE Devices.?
