First Words
Capitalize the first word of a sentence. Capitalize the first word of a
direct quotation. Do not capitalize the second part of an interrupted
quotation. When the second part of a quotation is a new sentence,
put a period after the interrupting expression and capitalize the first
word of the new sentence.
"Stop playing that game," my sister said, "and go to bed."
The game was over. "I'm ready," I replied. "That was fun!"
