31. The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 12. The number obtained by interchanging the two digits
exceeds the given number by 18. Find the number.

32. A number consists of three digits whose sum is 17. The middle one exceeds the sum of other two by 1.
If the digits are reversed, the no. is diminished by 396. Find the number.

33. There are some students in the two examination halls A and B. To make the number of students equal in
each hall, 10 students are sent from A to B. But if 20 students are sent from B to A, the number of
students in A becomes double the number of students in B. Find the number of students in the two halls.

34. If from twice the greater of two numbers, 20 is subtracted, the result is the other number. If from twice
the smaller number, 5 is subtracted, the result is the greater number. Find the numbers.

35. The area of a rectangle remains the same if its length is increased by 7 cm and the breadth is decreased
by 3 cm. The area remains unaffected if length is decreased by 7 cm and the breadth is increased by 5
cm. Find length and breadth.

36. A two-digit number is obtained by either multiplying the sum of the digits by 8 and adding 1; or by
multiplying the difference of the digits by 13 and adding 2. Find the number. How many such numbers
are there?

37. The monthly incomes of A and B are in the ratio of 5 : 4 and their monthly expenditures are in the ratio
of 7 : 5. If each saves Rs. 3000 per month, find the montly income of each.

38. Find p and q if 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 = 7 𝑎𝑛𝑑 2𝑝𝑥 + 𝑝𝑦 = 28 – 𝑞𝑦, have infinitely many solutions.

additional charge for each day thereafter. Yash paid Rs 22 for a book kept for six days, while Anand
paid Rs 16 for the book kept for four days. Find the fixed charges and the charge for each extra day.

47. Jamila sold a table and a chair for Rs 1050, thereby making a profit of 10% on the table and 25% on the
chair. If she had taken a profit of 25% on the table and 10% on the chair, she would have got Rs 1065.
Find the cost price of each.
48. The distance between school and metro station is 300 m. Kartikay starts running from school towards
metro station, while Ashu starts running from metro station to school. They meet after 4 minutes. Had
Kartikay doubled his speed and Ashu reduced his speed to third of the original they would have met one
minute earlier. Find their speeds.
49. A sum of money was distributed equally among a certain number of children. If there were 10 children
more each one would have got a rupee less. But if there were 15 children less each one would have got 3
rupees more. Find the sum of money distributed and also the number of children.
50. A certain number consists of 2 digits. If 5 is added to the number and the result is divided by the units’
place digit, the quotient is 6. If 10 is subtracted from the number and the remainder is divided by the
sum of the digits, the quotient is 3. What is the number?
51. A and B have some pencils. If A gives 10 pencils to B, then B will have twice as many as A. And if B
gives 10 pencils to A, then they will have the same number of pencils. How many pencils does each
have?
